556.0. "CRYSTAL MINES by Color Dreams" by VAXWRK::HARNEY (Watch out for that gravity storm!) Mon Nov 26 1990 15:35

I recently rented CRYSTAL MINES by Color Dreams from the local vid store.

THere are 100 "levels", progressivly more difficult. THere is a feature
at startup that allows you to pick your starting level.

The "mine" is constructed from an assortment of rock types, (soft, hard, lava,
etc) with some monsters thrown in for good measure.

The goal is to find all the gems on each level without dying from shifting
rocks and monsters.

Solving all 100 levels would provide MANY months of fun.

Problem: I want to buy it, and NOBODY has it, nor even HEARD of it! I tried
two TOYS'R'US, three KAY-BEEs, a NINTENDO store, and about 10 other places like
record stores, software stores, etc. Nothing. :-( The local vid store said they'd
ask their distributor, but I haven't heard a thing.

Anybody played this game?? Anybody SEEN it?

I haven't seen this game but I don't think Color Dreams is licensed
by Nintendo and that is why it is not sold in any stores. Check
    the front of the game.

556.2Where does one find non-licensed games?VAXWRK::HARNEYWatch out for that gravity storm!Mon Nov 26 1990 16:5612
re: .1 (Pam)

Thanks. That possibility occured to me, but not while I had the
game in my hand, so I wasn't able to check.

OK, let's say Color Dreams ISN'T licensed. How did this store
get it? How (why??) would the distributor get it? Where could
I get it?

Just curious.
Thanks.

This is a very good game with a nice combination of mental/physical.

Fans of LOLO will love Crystal Miner.

I have rented it from Video Signals, and they can usually order it
if it is in print. They are in Acton, Boxboro, and W. Boylston, MA.

PS-One nice feature is complete directions ON-Screen; important in
today's rental environment where instructions are not rentable.
