In the November December issue of nintendo power they had a
section called Video Shorts and this is what they said about P.O.W.
Well, you went and got yourself by the Government of Offensive Network
(G.O.O.N.). But little do they know it is all a part of a plan
to infiltrate the organization and break up their international
smuggling operation. Its hand-to-hand combat all the way as you
punch, kick, jumpkick, and back punch youre way to the GOON leaders.
Pick up handy items like brass knuckles, bulletproof vests, knives,
grenades, and machine guns. Defeating certain enemies will earn
you extra life energy as well. P.O.W is reminiscent of Double Dragon,
and the continue feature is a life saver.
On the Power Player meter it got:
for graphics and sound it almost got a 5, for play control a little
more than a 4, for challenge it got a little more than 4, and for theme
and fun it got a little more than 4. This is the highest rating
I have ever seen Nintendo Power give a game, WOW!
Personally if it is anything like the Arcade version it will be
very good, but after a rateing like that from them I plan to buy
it!

Ben,
Personally, I'd be just a little more skeptical about Nintendo
Power's ratings. I seem to recall they rated Stealth ATF fairly
high, but I thought it stunk! They had rated the graphics sort
of high (I don't recall exactly, but I think it was a 4), but
once the plane was in the air, I thought the graphics were quite
sub-standard. They rated the theme up there too, but all you
did was take-off, shoot planes down, then land, take-off again,
etc. Maybe it got better later on. Admittedly, I often agree
with their ratings, but not always. That P.O.W. game does look
like a pretty good one for that type of game, though.
