236.1Great game....LAMBOG::BENTBob Bent...Maynard ISWSTue Mar 21 1989 13:1219
I have to say that this is my favorite of all the baseball games available...
I really do like bases loaded but found that this game played faster and
was easier to learn....It has the password feature to play a playoff (not a
season like basesloaded)....it has the scoreboard feature for homeruns (seems
to me one of these companies copied from the other)....you can actually
pick runners off..:-)....and it has a feature where you can make your player
closest to the ball dive for the ball (using the B button)...if your timing
is good your shortstop may leap to snare a liner....if, however, you dive and
miss the ball you can play a single into a triple..(the voice of experience).

You have the choice of teams (no real names or stats) or you can play an
allstar game or just watch two teams play....I should also mention that the
pitcher batter perspective is the same as basesloaded except you have
split screens to see the runners on base...also hitting comes much easier with
practice.

Hope this helps

236.2this sounds like the best of all baseball games in one!SUNRIZ::JBONINMon Apr 03 1989 18:3910
Is this the latest baseball game out? It sounds like this one took
the good parts from RBI and BASES LOADED and came out with the best
    of both worlds.

I have RBI *and* BASES LOADED and won't give either up!! They both
have certain features that I like and the other doesn't have. :-)

BUT, should this become the ONE baseball game I *want* to own?

I rented Tecmo Baseball last weekend. Great game. I only won 1 game
5-4. My fielding needs improvement. I haven't played Bases Loaded
yet, but am anxious to use it.

Is TEMCO Baseball (or Bases Loaded for that matter) any better than
RBI Baseball? As an ex-Intellivision sports addict, I can safely say that
RBI bites the big one...

Anyone else ever play Intellivision baseball? THAT was a great game... as was
all their sports games...

Sigh...

    hi Al....

I sold RBI after buying bases loaded. I think it's a better game.
RBI is ok, but I really like the control over your pitches and hitting
with Bases Loaded. The pitchers have good curves/fastballs/etc...but
lose their "stuff" in the late innings. All are "graded" by ERA
so a low ERA is a good pitcher usually. But some of the high ERA
guys are effective for a couple of innings cuz they have good junk.

The hitters have BA and HR"s listed and they hit pretty much the
way their stats look. I did manage to hit one HR with a pitcher,
but usually they are weak hitters.

I haven't played TECMO baseball, but TECMO bowl is pretty good so
I would imagine they did a good job on the baseball game. Some of
the folks in here have it or have played it so I'm sure they can
answer that part of your question.

Thanks Jim. Maybe I'll try renting one of them (if I can find them).

The thing I really dislike is lack of control on defense. Try and chase
down a grounder into the hole and miss it; you discover your left-fielder
standing way over in the corner, talking to the fans!! 8^)

Same thing with TECMO Baseball, and my biggest beef. Turns small singles into
doubles, triples, and occasionally home runs. I could live with this if the
computers defense behaved in the same way, but it does not. When it misses the
grounder in the hole, it's outfielder is there to plug it up.

I don't believe Bases Loaded does this. If I recall rightly, the outfielder
will move towards the ball until he appears on screen. Then you can control him
from there. (Sorry I can't be more specific, I only rented this one and it's
been a while.)

Either way, I'd go along with the suggestion of renting both and seeing which
you like better.
