204.0. "Bubble Bobble/Bauble" by COEM::SCOPA (The Major) Tue Feb 07 1989 17:49

    I did not see any notes for this game so I took a shot and here it is.
    I purchased this game for my son and the first time he and a friend
    played it they were glued to the TV for 4 hours. I tried the game and
    now I'm hooked.

    Basically the game is a little bit like Soloman's key in that there are
    a number of rooms/screens you have to "solve" by blowing bubbles onto
    the "monsters" and then "bumping" them. What happens next is that the
    monsters turn into treasures and other items you gather.

    There are 2 levels with each level having 113 rooms. I'm in room 99
    right now and it reminds me a little bit of the Mini-Bosses in Kid
    Icarus.

    This game appears, at first, to be for kids but that impression changes
    real fast.

    You need to "think things out" as you go higher and higher.

    If you liked Icarus or Soloman's Key you'll like Bubble Bobble.

    Thanks for the info. Maj. I will rent it from the local video store
    and see if we get "hooked" on this one. Another great one is Paperboy.

    Again, thanks.

    This game has to be good to drag me from LINK for awhile.

    We're in room 99 on the second level and closing in. It's very
    enjoyable...it's light but also a bit difficult in certain rooms.

    Heh heh...a very deceiving game....has anyone got to Super Bubble
    Bobble yet? Specifically to room 99? And I thought the game was
    relatively easy!

204.4HELP ON SCREEN #99!CRUISE::WBERNIERThu Feb 09 1989 22:5321

    	Hi

    	I have this game and my wife and I have got up to screen #99
    	but can't defeat that big elf/magician guy.
    	We blow bubbles at the wall and those "Z"'s or lightning things
    	that come out of the bubbles and hit hime seem to make him
    	loose some power but our men always get killed by this guy
    	before we can really hurt him.

    	Any hints/spoilers/suggestions?????

    	Are you people saying that there is a second level of the game
    	once you get pass the 1st 99th or 100th screens?

    	If so how did you get past screen 99 in the 1st round?????

204.5room/level 99TYFOON::MARCOUXA bug,naaa,that's a featureFri Feb 10 1989 12:5831

       Level 99 some info after formfeed

        This room/level is the secret to completing each world. There
    are 116 room/levels in each world, but if 99 is not finished correctly
    then rooms/level 100-116 [A0-B5] are not accessable.

     More info on 99 follows if your tempted

     There is a symbol you must get immediately for it disappears in
    about 10/12 seconds. Once you get that, a door appears protected
    by a whale, I believe,you again have about 10 seconds to get to
    the door. This allows access to levels A0-B5..100-116.If both of
    these are not done the correct path to end game is not allowed.

    More on last room/level

    Be forwarned.......the last level requires two players to complete.

       Even if one player successfully finishes that room/level you
    won't receive the true ending. This is the room with the large dwarf
    looking character that throws bottles at you. He is beatable but
    patience is a must. Once he is beaten a password is given for the
    second round.

       As Mike Scopa mentioned previously the second round is SUPER
    BUBBLE BOBBLE. The same room/levels only more difficult.

204.6Don't go Solo!COEM::SCOPAThe MajorFri Feb 10 1989 19:006
    Also, both players must survive 99 and 100 to make for a "Good Ending".

    Timing is important.....it will be most appropriate to finish this game
    on Valentine's Day....erh ron?

204.9MKFSA::MARCOUXTue Feb 21 1989 18:187

      .-1 Your correct. That character needs to be hit 60 times. A
    warning, to properly finish that screen, you must play with TWO
    players and they both need to remain alive.

    I think I know what you're talking about on screen 99.

    My husband got what looked like a chess piece. The screen started
     flashing and quite a few of the baddies died. However, we never
    did see a door protected by a whale. Did we miss something?

    Screen 100 seems impossible. Any tips you can share will be
    appreciated.

    Thanks,

    You can use two different passwords that enters you into 99, yet
    there is something different between the two 99s.

204.18That _____ elfTIS::LEPIREWed Apr 26 1989 15:4113
    Help, my wife and I have been trying to kill that big elf (or whatever
    it is) for the past week and we are getting super frustrated.
    We have experienced some strange events. Twice the number at the
    top (60) was reduced to 05 before the elf started to move but we
    do not know how that was accomplished and have not been able to
    duplicate the condition.
    When we re-start the screen it indicates round C8, is this normal?

    We have never seen the crystal ball mentioned in in this notes file.
    If someone could help us, we would appreciate it. A mail message
    would be helpful and that way it would not spoil it for others who
    have more patience than I do. My mail node is TIS;;LEPIRE .
    Thanks in advance for whatever help you choose to impart to us.
204.20Level 99--What Door??WORDS::MSMITHTue May 02 1989 14:188

    	Is that actually the "door" or is it the xtal ball? I believe
    it's the xtal (shown in playing manual) & not the door. If this
    is the case, where is this door mentioned. I can get the xtal but
    no door appears....

204.22How about a password for L 1 Super BB ?SA1794::CUZZONESWhat a maroon!Wed Aug 23 1989 02:0118
    RE: .21 (In case you haven't gotten an answer via mail since May)

    option 1 - beat 56

    option 2 - umbrella in a previous screen

    If the question is how do you beat 57, as I recall the "safe zone"
    is in the middle but you can't get up to the buggers from the middle
    so sooner or later one of the edges stays clear long enough for
    you to bubblebounce up and kill them. Or ultimately, one of the
    deadly tokens shows up - you know the ones that let stuff loose
    to kill the badguys while you sit tight and watch.

    Question - can anyone send me the password to level 1
    SuperBubbleBobble?

    Thanks,
    Steve
204.23Bubble Bobble help again!WMOIS::P_RIVETTSMon Mar 26 1990 18:339
        WE ARE BACK TO PLAYING BUBBLE BOBBLE AND CAN'T GET PAST
    THE ELF GUY. We have defeated him many times only to get a bad
    ending. Question: Do both guys have to be alive to get a happy
    ending? (We have gotten the crystal ball) Would someone like to
    send me the password so we can play the second half of this game.

    Thanks

        Yes, both players have to exit the door. Later both need to remain alive
     on the last screen.

    When you enter a password and select continue, it will tell you which
    level you're going to. By pressing B, you can lower the level. By
    pressing A, you can raise the level. You cannot, however, raise the
    level higher than the original password level.
