173.0. "sports games" by SALEM::LEWIS () Tue Dec 20 1988 14:05

I just purchased the nintendo system and was wondering what games
that would be recommended. I'm interested in the sports series.
One of the games that I would like a little more information on
is the 10 yard fight. I heard some mixes reviews on this game. Would
it be a better option to rent it first? What other sports series
games are good. I looking forward to opening my son's nintendo.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Ten Yard Fight was one of the early games for Nintendo, and games
have improved overall since then. I've never played it but have
heard that it's terible. I like the original golf (there are more
golf games available). Double Dribble is good for a while, but the
more you play, the more you learn the computers stategy and there
is no more challange. It is better if you have a real opponent.
Ice Hockey is one of the best (toughest) sport games I've played.
There are several baseball games on the market. You may want to
look through this file for reviews. Rad Racer may not be a true
'sport' game, but I'll recommend it any way. If anyone does find a
really good football game let us all know. Can anyone comment on
    tennis or volleyball?

I like Tennis. I've never seen *anybody* come close to beating level
five. Can anybody beat level 5? The one bad thing about Tennis is
that you can't play head to head against a friend. Two people can
play but it's doubles against the computer.

I've never played Volleyball. Anybody know if it's any good?

I'm not too crazy about Nintendo tennis. It's not bad for a while.
I have been able to beat it at all levels. There is a new tennis
game for Nintendo called Racket Attack. It's a more realistic game
and very tough to beat as you move on through the ranks.

Don't get 10-yard fight (unless you want to buy mine).

Ten-Yard fight is lousy

Nintendo Hockey is a great game!!!

Volley-ball is another great but hard game...also hard to find. I don't think
they make it anymore.

Tennis is Ok...gets old after awhile...I've never been able to beat level 5
in singles but have mangaged in doubles.

The original golf is a good game but you get sick of it after awhile.

Bases loaded baseball is great also.

    Hi...

This is reference some information/opinions on Nintendo's (or anyone
    else's) baseball game.

Was wondering what it "is" and/or some of the specifics on it -
what it does have vs what it doesn't.

Example.... I've seen some games where if you have a guys and first
and third and walk the batter, everyone moves up.. including the
    guy on third (#$%^&^ game!).

    Thanks,
    Dan

I haven't seen that problem yet...I have both RBI and Bases Loaded.
I prefer bases loaded but others in here prefer RBI. There is a
discussion on both in this conference but I can't tell ya exactly
    where.

I've also seen a player run from first base straight to third and
then keep going until he falls off the edge of the screen. It was
    quite funny!
