| I've seen the pocket Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong II and I think Duck
Hunt at Child World. It would be interesting to see how they play
that without the gun. But it seems to me that this is an old form
of hand-held electronics whose time is past, circa Mattel electronics,
of about ten years ago. Are they still that popular with the young
ones nowadays?

| Yeah, I was once one of those little kids who liked the electronic
games. I used to love my Coleco Head-to-Head football. Then the
world of home game systems caught on and the poor shmucks tried
to copy it. Football on a handheld thingy? OK. Pac-Man, not too
good... Zaxxon? Pleeeze...

| For those of you (like me) who love puzzles and mazes, I strongly
recommend BOMBSWEEPER. I bought it for my son, but I couldn't keep
my hands off of it. Even my wife got addicted, and she ususally
hates these things. You control a little guy who makes his way
through a series of mazes to reach the bomb(s) before they explode
- there's a countdown timer visible. In order to solve the maze,
you have to move walls, avoid dummy bombs, etc. It's very clever
for something a little larger than a credit card. There are eight
levels of mazes, each level made up of ten successive mazes. In
between there is a maze that comes towards you, and you have to
avoid getting squeezed in on the right side wall. When you beat
all 8 levels, it starts again at level 1, but you have only 40 seconds
per maze instead of 50 (and then 30, and then ...). There is also
a "B" game that is strictly a race against the clock - every level
decreases the time available.
It even keeps my five-year old busy for an hour or so in the car-
which is worth the money all by itself. Approximately $30 - I got
it at Caldor's in Framingham.
