106.0. "3-D games" by DEBIT::SMARISON () Tue Jun 14 1988 21:01

Has anyone seen the 3-D games for Nintendo. I've heard the
3-D games for Sega look great but I have not heard anything
about the 3-D Nintendo games such as 3-D World Runner.

Both 3-D Nintendo Games (Rad Racer & World Runner) are made by
the same company. I think its Square or something like that.
Anyway, I have Rad Racer and would have to label it a dis-
appointment. It just plain doesn't work. There are double images
everywhere and it makes it almost impossible to play. The game
itself is OK but the 3D effects are really not there.

I have the same feeling about Nintendo's 3-D games. But heh, if
you are expecting something like Captain EO, don't waste your money
    for just the 3-D effects.

Hey, can somebody tell me something about 3-D World Runner? On
the back of the box it looks vaguely like Space Harrier. How is
    this game?
106.4Collecting dust in 3-D collection...DNEAST::SIMON_ANDYFri Sep 30 1988 01:0119
I probably shouldn't say this because I may be looking to sell
my World Runner cartridge sometime soon, but here goes...

I'm into 3-D stuff ( old stereoscopes and viewmasters, etc..)
and I am not impressed. The screens are too dark in 3-D mode to
see well and I get a blistering headache in about 5 minutes. For
some reason the same screen is light in regular play mode but dark
in 3-D mode. I found it easier and more enjoyable to play in regular
2-D mode. The object of the game is to run and/or jump at or over
objects. You start out trying to bump into poles to get bonus stuff,
then you have to jump over cravasses, then run between poles and
try to jump at stars for points while avoiding things coming at
you. I never really got very far into the game. I am also slightly
red-green colorblind so the effects may not be as pronounced for
me. I would reccomend renting this game if at all possible before
    deciding on buying it.

Anyone out there actually enjoy the game ???

  Hi,

Do you have a 3-D SYSTEM?
(like a glass.)

All of you know,
there is two ways for 3-D.

1. RED & BLUE as a filter. (3-D picture=MONO)
2. RIGHT LEFT change picture.(3-D picture=COLOR)

ex. RAD RACER use 2.
WORLD RUNNER use 1. (I think..)

 1. use a Right=RED,Left=BLUE glass.
 2. use a Right=ON,Left=OFF and Right=OFF,Left=ON (rapid change) glass.

I enjoyed RAD RACER as 3-D system.

P.S. RAD RACER is named "High Way Star" in Japan.

Maybe that's why Rad Racer's 3-D doesn't work in the states: They
include a pair of glasses with red and blue lenses as in method #1.
There is no liquid crystal (or whatever) Nintendo attachment here
	for 3-D like Sega has.
