    Thanks for the note on RBI Baseball. I have a few questions regarding
    the actual play of the game.
    
    Do you have control over the infielders and outfielders? The previous
    Nintendo baseball game did not give you this and it was extremely
    frustrating.
    
    Can baserunners lead off, and if so, can they be "picked off"? 
    
    Any other specifics you can give would be greatly appreciated!

    You have control over your fielders (infield and outfield). It seems
    that when you get under a fly ball your fielder raises both arms..this
    helps you line up for the catch.
    
    There is base stealing and pick off moves by your pitcher. Your
    success rate in base stealing is directly affected by how your player
    is rated as a runner. They rate players on a scale of A-E in the
    instruction book with A being the fastest. Trying for a pickoff
    is fun because if the player is leaning too far off he will dive back
    head first.                 
    
    When you have runners on base they run on contact with the ball.
    This means on fly balls or line drives you have to be carefull to
    make sure your player is not doubled off. This happened to me a
    lot when I first played.
    
    The views of the game you have are a split screen during hitting
    and pitching showing 1st base and 3rd as well as pitcher batter.
    Once you hit the ball the screen changes to a scrolling view of
    the whole field. The transition to this view is faster and smoother
    then in MLB.
    
    They have some humor in the graphics in that sometimes a fielder
    will get a fly ball off the head and be stunned a second until you
    can recover the ball....other errors are if for example you throw
    to first base before your first baseman is covering the bag. These
    errors didn't happen often when I was playing but when they do they
    can make the game even more interesting.
                                            

Thanks a lot for the descriptions----it has helped a lot in the evaluation

    Well, I finally picked up RBI baseball after all the "who-ha" in
    this file about it. It sounded like a good game so I thought I would
    igve it a try.
    
    I will say that it far outranks Nintendo Baseball. Of course, we
    all know that game lacks a lot anyway. I like being able to control
    my own fielders.
    
    However, with all good things, there are some really negative things
    about this game that irks me:
    
    o If you are losing by 10 runs, the game ends. If your opponent
    scores 10 runs in the bottom of the first, that's it, game is over.
    
    o The starting pitchers always seem to be get noticeably tired in
    the 5 inning or so. Makes it almost impossible to get a complete
    game out of a starting pitcher.
    
    o You can get doubled up on a popout foul ball. Boy, did this one
    fry me. I hit a high foul ball and my man on first base went to
    second. I wasn't paying attention so I didn't call him back. Since
    he made it to second all the way, I could not get him back to first
    and when the pop up was caught, he was doubled up. I don't know
    if this is really what could happen in real baseball (can someone
    clarify) but I don't like that.
    
    o The outfielders have weak arms. I tried throwing runners out at
    the plate and all the throws bounced a couple of times before the
    catcher fielded it. Even with a running start, I couldn't get the
    throw there.
    
    o That awful music...                                  
    
    o It seems that the opposing pitcher does not give you a chance
    to blink when he is ready to pitch. They should slow down the opposiong
    pitcher somewhat.
    
    All in all, I think it is a good game. I hope to get a little bit
    better in time. I am having trouble catching pop flies and fielding
    the ball. The computer decides for you who should field the ball
    and if you go in the wrong direction, bad things happen. An example
    is if the ball is hit between the second baseman and the shortstop.
    I send the shortstop to get it but a lot of times, it is the second
    baseman who should field it. This throws my second baseman and
    centerfielder out of position (they both move in unison when the
    ball is hit).
    
    I like being able to cut off throws from the outfield. That is a
    handy little feature for catching someone going to second on a single
    when the guy in first goes to 3rd.
    
    Lastly, I think it is a little over priced at $49.99.

    Anyone else seen this dandy:
    
    If the opposing team hits the ball in the rightfield corner or the
    left field corner and your outfielder gets the ball in foul territory
    (yet it was a fair ball when it went by the bag) you can accidently
    throw the ball into the stands and then never retrieve it. It's
    annoying. A work around is to run to a base across the diamond (run
    towards third if in rightfield and towards first if in left field)
    and then throw the ball to the intended base.

    I've seen the bug too.....not in left field though...definite

    Rented this game for the third time last night.  This has to be the
    best sports game nintendo has offered so far.  Why?  The computer ISN'T
    terrible.  Here is an example:
    
    Red Sox vs. Houston (Computer is Houston, of course).
    Roger Clemens vs. Nolan Ryan
    Both pitchers threw a 3 hitter through 7 innings!!  Roger had 11
    strikeouts and Nolan 2.  It seemed that all of my hits were wimpy
    little fly balls.
    After seven innings the score was tied 1-1.  I bet you are on the edge
    of your seat!!
    Well, to make a long story short, the computer pulled Nolan for Mike
    Scott, who proceeded to give up ten runs over the neext two innings.
    The Sox went on to a record of 9-0 and became the champs!!
    
    I'm going to go home tonight and try to go 9-0 with Minnesota!

    FWIW, a colmnist in Games magazine picked RBI Baseball as the best
    sports game available for Nintendo.
    
    Perhaps they hadn't seen Baseball Stars?...

    
       Mac,  RBI can't even shine BASEBALL STARS cleats.  No contest,
    BS is the best....by a light year.
