1561.0. "Mathematical Visualization" by PIANST::JANZEN (Tom MLO21-4/E10 223-5140) Mon Feb 10 1992 17:59

	So what's in the avant-garde and commercially available in
	Mathematical visualization?
	Is any real mathematical research done visually?

Most of the high-performance math packages have 3D plotting capablity. That
includes Mathematica, MAPLE, IMSL, SAS; and then there's AVS, which runs
on MIPS platforms and does a very nice job of animation, e.g. real-time
display of rotating 3D images. PV-WAVE has some nice stuff, too.

The DXML people would do well to emulate IMSL in this regard - perhaps they
are developing something ???

A scientific visualisation package is something that DXML would like to
provide some time in the future - it is on our list of future enhancements.

It might be worthwhile to copy the DXML notesfile regarding suggestions
for improvement.

chandrika, a DXML developer.

The DXML notesfile is at nicctr::dxml. It is not members only.

Enjoy!
