777.0. "Calculus text?" by AUNTB::SOEHL (To use this space, call 1-800-YUR-MONY) Sun Oct 25 1987 12:58

    Can anyone recommend a good Calculus text? The one we use in my
    class is "Calculus" by Larson & Hostetler. It leaves quite a few
    gaps in how it got from point A to point H in it's explanations.
    Being slightly (or greatly) rusty with Algebra, I'd like a little
    more detail in the intermediate steps.

    Thanks in advance,

    Patrick

    I think Thomas's book is still one of the standard ones. I used it in
    freshman calc, and it was adequate. But like most engineers, I really
    only learned any math when solving engineering problems. I have too
    much trouble with abstractions.

    -.1. Found a copy in the library dated 1972. It complements the
    one I mentioned very well. We were covering Taylor's Theorem, and
    it helped me understand what the other was not.

777.3Schaum's outlines for problemsEAGLE1::BESTR D Best, Systems architecture, I/OTue Oct 27 1987 12:445
re .0:

For problems worked out in detail, Schaum's outlines are always a
good standby.
