393.0. "Trig. Diophantine equation" by TOOLS::STAN () Thu Nov 28 1985 01:11

Here's an interesting result by Morris Newman:

All rational values of x and y such that

		sin pi(x) sin pi(y)

is a positive rational, normalized so that 0 < x <= y <= 1/2, are given by:

x	1/2	1/3	1/4	1/6	1/10	1/12

y	1/2	1/3	1/4	1/6	3/10	5/12.
