    re: reset your genetic code

??? Is this possible? I don't have a Phd. after my
name but I don't think you can reset your genetic code.

    Has anyone read this book?

914.2YUP... Read it...Modified it...USCTR1::OSHAUGHNESSYLet LIFE be your GOALWed Apr 10 1996 18:3546

Yes, I've read the book (don't I read them all). Having fought
the battle for most of my life I'm always trying to keep up on
	things...

Now that I've had all my children, I decided that this is the last
time that I want to have to lose any large amount of excess weight,
but the stipulation was I don't care how long it takes, and I'm not
going to go nuts and kill myself over it either.

I've basically believed low-fat and exercise... and this does seem
to work well for me. But come winter I just can't get into exercise
and I really tend to slack off. Around Christmas time I read the book
Enter the Zone. I definitely don't follow his plan to the letter, but
I did apply some of his principles to myself. I was eating a high
carb, lowfat, relatively low protein diet. Now my diet seems to be
close to what he recommends 40%C, 30%P, 30%F. I have definitely
increased my protein intake, and reduced my carb some and even
increased my fat some (have a hard time with this one). Although I
don't go to the extreme of favorable carbs vs. unfavorable carbs as he
	suggests.

Guess what... I lost about 10 pounds since Christmas (only about 5 to
go). But the most amazing thing that I noticed is the my muscle tone
looks better... Even without the committed exercise... (I do get some
but not what I like to). My arms don't have any flab hanging, my abs
are starting to look like abs (yes I do crunches at least 2X a week),
and my butt and legs (where I tend to carry my weight have even gotten)
smaller. Over the past month or so I haven't lost any weight, but
friends keep saying that I look like I have. I've been happy with
my results, kind of MODIFIED ZONE... And feel great about the way I
look, now if this New England weather ever gets better, I can't wait
to be out walking again... I just don't like the COLD!!!

Easy to live with... for me YUP!!! The only real change was adding
more protein and fat... YIKES !! that was easy... I'm not quite up
to what Sears recommends but, I seem to have found what works for me.
Most important, it's something that I can live with and I'm not
        killing myself to do it.

    	NOW... NO MORE SNOW !!!!

    Laurie,

Congratulations! I'm glad this is working for you. What you
say about this program makes sense. And it seems to have worked.

I just get highly suspicious of terms like: reset your genetic
code. It isn't possible and I doubt that if you had a dna
test that your code would be any different today than it was
6 months ago. That is what I'm questioning.

But, if you are losing weight and you feel healthier, that is
    what really counts.

    keep up the good work!

    Pam
