My husband works 3rd shift for the U.S. Post Office. I've
been dieting for 3 months now (doing Weight Watchers), and
my husband has now decided to start a diet also.
It's very hard for him because of 3rd shift. He works 10:30 PM
to 7:00 AM and he's now trying to figure out WHEN he should
eat his meals. If he eats dinner with me at 6:00 PM, then
on HIS lunch break (@3:00 AM!!), he's hungry again. What
I suggested was he eat a small breakfast when he gets home
at 7:00 AM, then a regular dinner with me (because he doesn't
like to eat a big dinner at 3:00 AM, he says it makes him sleepy),
then on his lunch break, have a couple pieces of fruit.
On his days off, he eats at the normal times (breakfast/lunch/
dinner).
I don't envy you Pat. Losing weight is hard enough as it is,
never mind having a screwed up schedule to deal with too.
I wish you luck!

| PAT,
I HAVE BEEN WORKING THE THIRD SHIFT FOR ALMOST FOUR YEARS NOW.
I AM OVERWEIGHT AND HAVE BEEN GOING UP AND DOWN IN WEIGHT FOR
QUITE SOME TIME.
IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS THOUGH, I HAVE BEEN SLOWLY LOOSING WEIGHT.
WHAT I DO IS EAT A GOOD MEAL RIGHT BEFORE WORK OR AS SOON AS I GET
THERE. THEN I HAVE A MEAL WHEN I GET HOME IN THE MORNING.
I USUALLY GO TO SLEEP IN THE AFTERNOON. THATS WHY I EAT IN THE MORNING
AND BEFORE WORK BECAUSE THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IS EAT BEFORE BED-
TIME.
WHEN THE WEEKEND COMES ALONG I TRY TO SWITCH TO REGULAR HOURS.
SO I EAT IN THE MORNING AND THEN HAVE MY DINNER AROUND SIX OR SO.
THEN GO TO SLEEP AROUND ELEVENISH, OR WHATEVER.
I KNOW HOW WEEKENDS CAN BE THE WORST BUT IF YOU GET THROUGH THEM
YOU CAN DO IT!!!
GOOD LUCK.
