| Thank you so much Eileen. I'm sitting here, eating my lunch, and thinking
about trying one of these quick weight loss diets, since I've been fluctuating
between an 8 and 10 pound weight loss for the last couple of weeks.
I am a member of Weight Watchers and think their diet is easy to follow,
doesn't leave me hungry and it works. At least I'm stuck 10 pounds under
where I've been for the past year.

Eileen, I can't thank you enough for writing this base note. I've been
going to Weight Watchers for about 6 months and at last peek I was down
10 1/2 pounds. Note 333 tells what I'm trying now. But I have a friend
who is doing one of these "slurp and pop" diets - you know, you drink
something 3 times a day and pop a pill 5 times a day and like magic
you drop 500 pounds in 2 weeks! She has been telling me about how
fast and safe it is and best of all John Hancock pays 80%. For a while
I was seriously considering looking into it. But then I sort of slapped
myself back to reality by reminding me that WW is the only plan that
I feel is safe, nutritious and LIVABLE. My only problem is that I don't
stick to it long enough to make it part of my life.
So anyway, thanks for putting it all in perspective for me.

| I am very opposed to crash diets, particularly these drink type
ones. It is very easy to be pressured into using them. A few
months ago I met a colleague at work, in a very open area, who was
on this kind of diet, after a short discussion, I was accused (loudly)
of not really wanting to lose weight or I would go on this crash
diet.
She was losing weight fast, and looking really good. That was
months ago, and I saw her recently for the first time since then,
and most of the weight is back on ( I managed to restrain myself
from saying I told you so ).
I am currently going to a diet clinic, and have lost 35 pounds since
February. I lost 14 pounds quite fast, then got stuck and gave
up a bit, but have lost another 21 pounds since June. My Doctor
described these liquid diets as "having gastroentiritis", and I
tend to agree.
I really believe if you have a long term weight problem, then you
have to change your eating habits FOR EVER. 7 years ago I was 140
pounds, have lost 70 pounds over a 6 month period after being
overweight for years. I kept the weight off for 2 years, then
it gradually began to creep on again. BUT NOT THIS TIME.
One thing I have tried was hypnotism. This did work in a way,
I didn't lose weight, but one of the things I wanted to achieve
was to like myself the way I was. I had a terrible self image,
and dressed in dark clothes etc. The hypnotism worked in that
respect, and even though I stayed overweight for 2 years before
I started dieting again, I gradually began to feel that being fat
didn't make me any less ME,
