1836.0. "PW problem sorting dir's" by NNTPD::"per.nordli@.nwo.mts.dec.com" (Per Nordli) Tue Apr 29 1997 12:28

Hello!

A customer of mine has a problem with catalogs and files in Shares
on PW for Unix-server is not appearing sorted alphabetical order. This
works ok on PW for VMS.
The problem can easily be seen if connecting to a share in Dos and do
a Dir, the catalog and files are not sorted alphabetical. Do the same
on an PW/VMS-system, and dir's and files is sorted fine.
The problem is the same both on PW5- and PW6-Unix servers.

Is there a way to fix this?

Regards,

Per Nordli.

It seems that the PWUNIX shares behave more like DOS disks and return
the list of files based on when they were created. I've seen this on
DOS systems and in DOS windows on Win 95 systems. If the customer is
just looking for a sorted list of files with the dir command, the /on
qualifier will sort the output based on filename.

Thank you for your quick reply.

The problem is not really in dos, it was just a quick way of
showing what was wrong.
The problem is in PWADMIN (or ManageWorks) when customer wants
to change rights to a PW-user, the users and his catalogs and
files is appearing the same way it does in Dos.
Is it any nice things to do about this?

Per Nordli.
