1823.0. "LANE Emulation problems with 6.1 eco2& UNIX 4.0a" by VMSNET::G_OEHMS (Will the wonders never seize the day?) Fri Apr 18 1997 21:17

Customer is using LANE for emulated LAN over ATM. Another specialist
summarized the current problem as follows: (>>> marks my additions)

    1. Customer originally had problem loading running the lmivp for
    pathworks tcp/ip.

    2. Had customer upgrade to 4.a Unix, and 6.1 eco2 Pathworks and add
four Unix ATM patches. This fixed problem.

    3. Then customer started using a new or different 3com switch for
the ATM and Unix started crashing every 10 minutes.

    	>>>old switch was BatNetwork-new switch is 3COM Cellplex

    4. sent newer ATM patches which has fixed the crashing.

        >>>atm.mod, atmip.mod, lane.mod and uni3x.mod

    5. Now it looks like the Pathworks over tcp/ip will not start.

	>>>Customer says that during knblink he gets missing protocol
    message.

Our information on how the ATM emulation works with PATHWORKS on
Digital UNIX is sparse so if someone can suggest troubleshooting steps
and/or point us to some documentation it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    glenn

Hi Glenn,

There hasn't been any testing of Pathworks/Unix with ATM or LANE. You can try running knblink stop
and knblink start and posting the output.

Julia
1823.2KNBTCP fails to start intermittenly with ATM cardALFSS2::JONES_JThu Apr 24 1997 15:1311
    Julia,

Received mail from customer. Rebooted server with ATM config and
Pathworks stated this morning. Is there any possible timing problem
where tcp/ip in not fully up and the knbtcp process tried to load. The
error message when it failed was something like " Cannot find host".

    					Tks,
