1778.0. "PW 6.1 netlogon and browsing" by RANGER::BACHUS::DHAENS () Wed Mar 12 1997 08:58

My customer migrated from pw ofr unix V5.0feco2 to PW for unix
    V6.1eco2.
Now we have a problem with net logon.(via tcp/ip)
All his clients are still Pathworks for DOS based clients. At logon
    time they are not validated.
A sniffer learned me that there is no respons on the
mailslot\net\netlogon command. I already changed the lmannounce to
    yes.

A workaround is to put an nt-server in the domain as a BDC and it works.

    Can anybody explain this behaviour?
I found the BROWSTAT command on the NT-resource kit. The result of that
command "Browstat getmaster netbt_cexps6 pwgds" is:

Unable to get Master: Access is denied
    Why?

    any hints,
    Geert Dhaens

I also notice that the server is sending packets to the cable every 1/2
    sec.
    They have following format:
RFCNB Name Query Req Name='PWGDS .'
I didn't saw these packets before.

    /regards,

I have also encountered the same problem , after upgrading to 6.1 eco2
all logon attempts ( tcp clients) were unsuccesfull net3778.
Installing eco1 the problem went away.
The kit was obtained at racerx.lkg.dec.com (tar sized 43059200)
Is this the right kit ? did any of you check it ?

Hi all

A similar problem has been qared.
This appears when DNS is set to no
try to set DNS on and it would be better.
This pb is fixed with the next version V6.1a.
