1748.0. "lmx.srv crashes. vfy lmworld in /etc/passwd!" by RANGER::BACHUS::DHAENS () Fri Feb 14 1997 13:43

     for your info.

        I had a problem that the server (pw osf V6.x) crashes
    	intermittently and
        we weren't able to start up.
        At startup time a fault is logged as:
        Propagation failed pw!= Null

        The reason for this was that the lmworld account was deleted from
        /etc/passwd.(This is a new account for pw-osf V6.x)
        This was done every time the customer added a new user via NIS to
        the system via a self made procedure.
        The crash occured a couple of hours later.

Hi Geert,

    You should escalate this as an ipmt because the server is crashing.
    Provide the "self made procedure" with the case, along with the local
    password file and lanman.ini.

    fyi - If you have createunixuser=no in lanman.ini, then all your users are mapped
    to lmworld.

Regards,
Julia
