    Hello,

I have Pathworks Server 5.0D & Pathworks for Windows 95 and paralle
printer with PC. How to make Local printing with PW95 using LAT?

    Thanks for any reply,
    Piphob S.

You don't, it's not supported in PATHWORKS for Windows 95 v1.0, or v1.0a

There is a way to do it with PATHWORKS 32 v7.0, over DECnet or TCP/IP

    Jeff,

How about if we do install pw for dos /windows v6.0 and make local
    printing?

For PW 7.0, Could you tell us the concept to do local printing?

    Thanks

Under PATHWORKS 32 v7.0, a print symbiot is loaded on the Digital Unix, or
OpenVMS system that communicates to a widget on Win95, or NT v4.0... that
inturn communicates to ANY accessable printer.

    Jeff,

Can it support Postscript? Can we have only PATHWORKS 32 v7.0 on Client
    side?

    Thanks

I'm a little unsure about this but... it supports whatever the printer supports,
so... if a POSTSCRIPT file where shipped, it would print as postscript on a
postscript printer, garbage on a text only printer...

I don't understand the "can we have only PATHWORKS 32 v7.0 on client"
portion, do you mean:

*only* PATHWORKS 32 clients can connect and use the printer?

Nope, ANY client that can connect to the printer Queue can print to a
printer connected to an NT/Win95 machine running PATHWORKS 32.

So, if you are sitting in a Terminal Emulator on an OpenVMS system, and
want a printout, you can PRINT TO THE PRINTER attached to your NT server
(or whatever) through a VMS print Queue. A Windows 95 system could also
connect either to the VMS print queue, or DIRECTLY to the NT printer Queue
and print a job

I believe the question was - can a PostScript printer send
information back to the VMS system?

This was a problem with the old reverse LAT. The VMS queues
needed to get a response from the printer. Our parallel port
solution didn't take this into account. It wasn't until we
has serial support that we could fully support PostScript.

In answer to the question of whether or not PWPRINT handles
    this 2 way interaction: I don't know.
