802.0. "Netware print queue losing front of Print job." by ACISS2::RILEY (STEPHEN V RILEY @CYO) Tue May 13 1997 14:23
I am seeking assistance resolving a problem printing large print jobs
using Pathworks for OpenVMS NetWare.
The configuration utilizes the ability of PATHWORKS V1.0D for OpenVMS
(Netware) to allow OpenVMS users to print to native NetWare printers
(ie connected to native Netware servers) via the DCL PRINT command.
The printer involved is an IBM 4317 (Lexmark) network 17 page-per-
minute duplex printer (operating in two-sided mode).
In general, the procedure works well, (consistently well with smaller
size jobs)but with large print jobs (10,000 VMS blocks or more)we
are losing the FRONT portion of the job as it goes to the printer.
For example, the first several dozen pages won't print out, but then
all remaining pages up through and including the last page do. The
behavior is consistent in that the same print job sent to the same
NetWare queue a second time will be missing the exact same number of
leading pages, and if that same job is sent to a native OpenVMS
printer queue, it will print properly in it's entirety.
Are there job size constraints involved here? If so, what are they?
There does not appear to be an insufficient disk space issue on the
NetWare server PC that we are aware of.
Any assistance is appreciated.
