780.0. "Problems after 1.0D upgrade" by OSLLAV::NILSS_P (Truth is a pathless land...) Wed Jan 29 1997 11:13

    Hi,
I have upgraded a VAX with pathworks for Netware from version 1.0 to
    1.0D eco 3.

After the upgrade all privious hybrid users were missing.

I then added the SUPERVISOR user via SCONSOLE and mapped it to
PWVN$ACCOUNT,but I'm unable to log on to the PW.Netware server.

From the PC I get an error message like ERROR 197, INTRUDER LOCKOUT.

I have also looked through the log files, but there are no login
attempts, only the normal startup messages from the server.

Pathworks version 4.2-1 is also running on this system, could that be a
    problem ?

    Any hints ?

    best regards

INTRUDER LOCKOUT means you have a licensing problem.

Was the bindery from the earlier installation saved/used?
(See product documentation on BINDDOWN utility.)

    Hi, thanks for Your reply.

The server has two licenses installed, PWNWVMSCC and PWNWVMSCU.

The clients in use are native Novell without license requestors
    installed.

What is the easiest way to overcome this problem ??

    best regards

.2> The server has two licenses installed, PWNWVMSCC and PWNWVMSCU.

    PWNWVMSCC	- this is a client-based license
    PWNWVMSCU	- this is a server-based license

.2> What is the easiest way to overcome this problem ??

Native Novell clients not using a license requestor are licensed using
    server-based licenses (PWNWVMSCU01.00) on a first-come, first-served
basis. Licenses are "held" by clients for the duration of the client
connection to the file server. If there aren't enough licenses on your
file server system to support the number of native Novell clients
simultaneously accessing the file server, you'll need to obtain more.
