806.0. "Do you have Prince Albert in a bikini brief?" by ESGWST::RDAVIS (Carp per diem) Fri Jul 17 1992 18:11

So what does this randomly-selected representative group of men think
of penile piercing? Prince Alberts seem to be getting pretty popular
    lately.

It's difficult to think of any jewelry (man, really gotta watch the
terminology in this topic), decoration more quintessentially MANLY.
After all, non-men have no penises to pierce. But I don't make the
masculine grade when it comes to piercing. I can just barely deal with
the pain of shaving, and even that's only from the neck up.

Oh yeah, and just how does "Prince Albert" come into it? Is that why
    he died young?

As a woman, I'd be wary of participating in the ultimate intimacy with
    a pierced partner.

That's got to scratch you up.....yech. If I wanted pain, I'd go
dancing on X night at Axis.

Where exactly is the piercing? Never having seen this in person, I
find myself sitting here attempting to visualize exactly what it looks
    like...

    Thanks,

I believe I've heard that there are primitive tribes or maybe modern
primitives, that er, use piercing and scaring to add to the pleasure
of their partner. Personally it makes me cringe.

Typical that 3 women have already replied to a topic so sensitive to
    males!

    Going off in a huff,
    Ray

P.S. -- Lorna, locations vary. Many of your friends and acquaintances
probably have copies of the "Modern Primitives" coffee table book or
similar glossy magazines available for loan. (If only Charles Haynes
was still around...) Unfortunately, as I explained, I'm not a Primmy
myself. Feeble memory attests to the Prince Albert being striking, but
I can't recall whether that was the one centered right behind the
glans. Any hipsters dressed in black willing to give me some help?

re.0 Where did you dig this up I.E. becoming popular?
    re.3
Picture a ring going in the opening exiting thru the bottom and you
have a prince albert. I saw a guy with one at a nude beach in
California but then he had just about everything else pierced
too. I don't even care for a pierced ear on men so one can imagine
how disgusted this dude made me....

    I think it's damned bizarre.

    Not to mention unhygenic.

    And painful!!! (shudder)

Thanks for the clarification, -j. That certainly sounds like the most
practical spot, unless you find an elastic pin.

As for how I know it's getting popular: Several guests mentioning it,
several overheard conversations on the bus ("He looked like he was
about to faint for the next three weeks!"), questions in the "Ask
Isadora" column, demonstrations at clubs, proximity to two piercing
shoppes... You mean it's not popular in Colorado Springs?

I can think of better things to do with it, than to punch holes in it
    and hang rings or chains.

Besides, can you imagine having to explain to airport security why your
crotch is setting off the metal detector?

i don't understand where the question of hygiene comes into
    	play....
if one bathes regularly and thoroughly there shouldn't be the
question of cleanliness or the lack there of.
you DO bathe and wash *THERE* don't you?

as for body piercing, like anything else, to each his/her own.

Never... I was just curious outside of the one gent I met in
California I had never seen or heard of it before.

I can just picture a guy walking into Spencer gifts buying
a pair of earrings and asking the attendant install them
just like having a ear peirced. NOT!

You mean there are actually shops where one can go and have this
done?!? Colorado Springs for that matter the whole danged state is
too conservitive for me to expect this to become popular here.

specialize in body piercing. a few spots in the boston area
and more on the west coast.

No need I have no desire to deface my body. I belong to a nudist
resort because I feel that if god had intended for humans to wear
clothes we would be born with them. I have no rings or tatoos for
    the same reason.

Body piercing is fairly common in L.A, of coure. I've never seen a
PA, don't want to, and tend feel my gag reflex kick in when I see guys
    with nipple rings.

Pierced noses are pretty common, and I think it looks odd.

Multiple ear piercing with say, a dozen rings in one ear, is also
    common, as are tattoos.

G'day

What's always amused me about pierced noses, with studs or rings,
is
  `what happens to the snot?'

Doesn't it gunge up the stud or ring?

    	disgusting... but,

the stud can be removed for cleaning and adding an anticeptic
    	then replaced.

it's not such a big deal.

Nose rings have a long and honorable history. They're mentioned several
times in the Bible.

Today's Boston Globe has an article on body piercing, and has several mentions
of men having "genitals" pierced. There is a quote from a Revere (MA)
bartender who had this done. So, I guess it isn't confined to the left coast!

I liked the line about "bejeweled family jewels." I thought the pictures
were pretty gross (one of a pierced eyebrow, and one of a pierced navel).
