315.0. "Visitational Interference" by CIMNET::LUISI () Wed Jan 11 1989 17:00

The January Issue of American Fatherhood , the monthly newsletter
of F.A.I.R., the National Father's Organization, has published a
    study on Visitational Interference.

The published results of this study of 2,228 divorsed fathers in
48 states documents the inability of divorsed fathers to realize
court ordered visitation, and correlates this problem to child support
default rates due to the expense of unsuccessfull litigation. It
contains a bibliography of over 50 citations and has been used as
evidence in both courts and legislatures. This is the largest study
ever conducted on visitational interference and has been said to
be the single most convincing evidence used by attourneys and lawmakers
in documenting the problem of visitational interference.

re .0, Does the study mention how the 2,228 divorced fathers were
identified or chosen to participate in the study? I'm always curious
about the methodology of sociological studies.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the ordering
    information.

I havn't read the actual study but read the overview article FAIR
published. They did not mention the demographics. FAIR has always
been open to queries and I'm certain if you called and asked they
    would share that with you.

I wouldn't be surprised however [personal opinion] that many of
the respondents were FAIR members. I know that when you join they
ask you several questions on the application. One of them being
if you ever were denied visitation, another if you even held back
    child support payments.

I'd be interested in the ansuer if you decide to call.
