5163.2 | Does the EEPROM hang problem look like this? | NNTPD::"moore@stl.dec.com" | Adrian Moore | Sun Apr 20 1997 22:13 | 19 |
| When installing Windows NT Server v4.0 build 1381 on an AlphaServer 2100a with
FirmWare 4.50, the system would repeatedly hand on
"Setup is preparing to initialize the Windows NT networking installation".
This was worked around (eventually ;] ) by installing a fresh copy of v3.51
by pulling the current v3.51 HAL, and then upgrading.
After the error message, NVRAM was cleared and defaults had to be set up and
ECU 1.9 run (sometimes unsuccessfully) before proceeding.
Does this sound like the problem due to an EEPROM you were investigating at
the end of 1996? (per -.1)
Thanks & Regards,

| It might be. Did you use the NT V4.0 HAL that was posted on the web or did
you use the HAL that was on the CD? For NT V4.0, you need to use the HAL
that is posted on the web at http://www.windows.digital.com/support/sysoft.asp.

| Hi,
Yes the hal was the latest external one.
Did you have more info on the EEPROM issue? (a fix?)
Thanks & regards,
