Incorrect? Scattered around the odd conference are suggestions that a native
Alpha Office97 will be appearing soon.

I have nothing to do with this, I'm just repeating rumours.

This has been discussed in the FX!32 conference.

Office 95 works well under FX!32. I've been using FX!32 and Office 95
for a year; Customers are using it as well. For details on setup and
issues, the FX!32 Readme.txt has bullets for Office 95 and most components.
Also, see the discussions in the FX!32 conference.

Office 97 mostly works under FX!32, though it is NOT currently
supported. I'm running Office 97 RC under FX!32 - the basic functions
of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint are OK. Some of the new functions (Internet
Explorer 3 on the taskbar) don't work. Outlook doesn't work at all, if
you install Office 97 skip Outlook and keep the Exchange client. I've
found Outlook slower than Exchange on my 486/66.

Microsoft has (quietly) stated that there will be a native version of
Office 97 for Alpha NT 120 days after Office 97 x86 goes to
manufacturing. Packaging is still being decided, I have no idea what the
product name or ordering will be. Not all of Office 97 will be native. I
am happy that there will be a native Excel for the finance market.

If you need more details, contact the Digtial product manager for MS
Office, Eric Getsinger in DECwest. There should be more details soon.

I don't have an official connection with this, it's important for the
    financial market.
