871.0. "San Francisco Earthquake" by DEC25::BRUNO () Tue Oct 17 1989 23:28

A major earthquake in the San Francisco area has cut off
the feed of the world series to the TV network. I am also unable to
reach some California nodes of the E-net. Any information would be
    appreciated.

I have no clue...I can't get to and Bay area nodes
	 either.....

but I haven't seen anything on the news, and I've got CNN on,
and have been flipping the channels......

	 hummm.....

	 HANG ON! Special report!!

hell! they are showing pictures of the Bay bridge that just
	 had an upper segment collapse!!!!

Roads collapsed everywhere, lights out at Candlestick
Park....some fires....people panicing at Candlestick Park.

Some buildings collapsed off Market Street (very older
	 buildings)

I'm suprised we didn't feel anything here....I bet they did
	 in the high-rises downtown.

	 6.5 on the Richter Scale.

1/2" cracks in the upper levels of Candlestick Park.

Who knows.......seems they are very dsisoriented!

I was reading on the San Francisco quake in the SOAP conference
this morning, exited notes to do some work and now I can't get
back into the SOAP file - error message saying "inappropriate
    device type".

Can someone tell me how I can get back into that conference?

You'll probably need to wait a while and try again.
