366.0. "a chance to make a difference" by LEZAH::BOBBITT (face piles of trials with smiles) Fri Jul 31 1987 14:29

sorry, my previous attempt botched the title, (366.0), so this is
    reposted - apologies

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
This is information from my posting in womannotes, (#417.0)

The Senate Judiciary committee has a phone number to call to register
your favor/disfavor of Judge Bork's nomination --
please call if you are interested -- it only takes 10 seconds -- and say
whether or not your are in favor of appointment.

 202-224-5225

The line is open most of the day, and evenings, and if no one is
around to answer it a machine answers with Judicious message of
some sort....but keep trying if you're interested....the line will
remain in service until response dwindles, or until the matter is
    settled.

This is a chance I've never had - a chance to be heard
It's your chance too - whatever your stance.

    -Jody

Remember too, that if you don't try to do something now, you will
have no right to complain later when things start to change adversely.

The same with voting - those who don't vote - can't complain.

Where does one get *factual* informaton complete enough to warrant
calling up and making a statement one way or the other ?

95% of the "news media" in this country is owned by three men; so
no matter what you read will be reflection of what these mens'
    philosophies are.

re .3: Try the Christian Science Monitor. NOTE: it is NOT repeat NOT
a religious tract! This newspaper is famous world-wide for reporting
indepth information from all viewpoints about american news, politics,
etc. Very seldom does any other newspaper do something like present
the gist of a bill before the Senate, explain the consequences of
it, and present the arguments and evidence of the pro and con sides.

    Very informative.

Yes, the Christian Science Monitor is a very good newspaper, but
don't expect to find any coverage of medical or health science news.
