Of the answers so stated:
"... because I said so !"
"Cuz I'm the 'mommy' thats why!"
"No one said that life is fair."
"'Cuz thats how things work around here"
"because your not old enough to know any better"
"No reason - It's just policy."
I would be very upset if someone gave me those reasons as answers, and I would
not accept them. I certainly would not give them as answers to my children, and
I would hope other parents are not. I feel that every person deserves some
explanation to their questions, even if they won't understand the explanation
fully.

| I can't get away with pseudo-answers like these. If I say just
"Because" to Tommy, he asks "Why because?" However, I think
this is more a subject for PARENTING than H_R.
"It's just policy" is one that I hear a lot in the business world,
and little infuriates me more. (Well, maybe those signs that start
out with "For your convenience..." and then tell you eight things
that inconvenience you.)
Anyway, I don't know where we can really go with this topic other
than some amusement.

RE: .19 *** I'd like to hear more of the context that was taken from...
Gee, Jim, I believe it was stand-up comedy.
[Several years ago, Lily had a one-woman show on Broadway, and during
the performance, she would throw out a one-liner viewpoint on life's
ironies, pause, and move onto the next observation, sort of in the
same fashion as Steven Wright. Ergo, no context, just offered here
as a light-hearted smile 8^) ]
