463.0. "Internet addresses for the school system?" by KEENIE::NEWMAN (OpenVMS Marketing - DTN 293-5360) Mon Apr 25 1994 01:36

Can anyone tell me what parts of the Maynard School System (and maybe
other town offices) are accessable via the Internet? In flipping
through the cable channels I noticed that there appears to be an
Internet address for WAVM. I was wondering if any other parts of the
school system (perhaps individual teachers?) have internet addresses?

No, we don't yet have individual Internet access for the school (or town
for that matter). If you have something in mind, I'd be happy to
relay the idea to the appropriate people. Right now a small set of teachers
is taking advantage of our Internet link throught the MCET LearnNet system.

We, er, the school has plans for hooking up to Internet (including some
grants that won't be active for another year). There are *many* factors
in doing this -- I'd be happy to discuss them with anybody or holding a
debate here.

I put the Internet address on WAVM as a way of showing that the school
didn't have its head too deep in the sand. A point of interest: as far as
I know nobody has submitted ideas, etc. to the station via that conduit so
it really is more P.R. right now.
