439.0. "Ode to the Mill" by MRKTNG::L_MOORE (Linda M Moore @TTB) Fri Sep 03 1993 15:36

Ode to the Mill by Linda Moore

    From familiar clock
    to well-worn sill,
how we all adore the Mill.

    The tales of Millrat lore,
from those who know there way around,
describe where pigeon mess was found.

    Out the window
    folks did fish,
I wonder- did they taste delish?

    The roof overhead
    sure was leaky,
the floors underfoot still are squeaky.

    Come Summertime
    the Mill would boil,
people would find pools of oil.

    In the Winter
    when temps declined,
food warming on hardware is what you'd find.

    The days of rats
    and bats are gone,
but in our minds they still live on.

    Sloping floors, tunnels
    and mysterious caverns,
and of course lunch at local taverns.

    When times were tough
there was work to be found
    sweeping, painting, nails to pound.

    Beside you working
    in a tee-shirt and jeans
was a man who could teach you what "entrepeneur" means.

    You'd find him strolling hallways
    checking in on engineers,
    or spreading yearly Christmas cheer.

    A million square feet
    from one small space,
    has become a very dear place;

    For those who were there
    right from the start,
to those who know it only by heart.

Hey! The Mill has been stolen!!!

$1.2M is comparable to someone buying the Wang Towers for 500K!!!

Well, good luck to those Lifecare people.
