| Title: Digital Railroad Club Holiday Exhibit
The Digital Railroad Club will be presenting a charity exhibit at the Maynard
Knights of Columbus Hall on December 6, 1992 from 10:00 to 4:00, in conjunction
with the annual Maynard Christmas Parade.
Admission is $2.00 per adult and $1.00 per child with a $5.00 maximum per
family. Return passes are available for those wishing to view the exhibit both
before and after the parade.
Refreshments will be available.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Knights of Columbus Charity Fund. The
Maynard Knights of Columbus Council has served the Maynard, Stow and Acton
communities since 1920. The Charity Fund offers assistance to handicapped
citizens in the local area.
The Knights of Columbus Hall is located at the corner of Nason and Summer
Streets in Maynard Center and is on the parade route.
The Digital Railroad Club is made up of present and past Digital employees.
The layout is a modular layout that can be set up in less than 2 hours
time. It consists of 4 club-owned corners and a series of 6' straight
sections owned by individual members. One module has a large freelanced
version of the Digital Mill. The entire layout is 14' by 32'.
Railroad equipment that is used includes modern equipment, European models,
including the famed bullet trains, as well as trains from the 50's and 60's
when steam gave way to diesels and modern railroading was born. A special
feature of the layout is Thomas the Tank engine and some of his friends
from the popular TV series, "Shining Time Station".
A special train featured on the layout is an engine and some cars lettered
for Digital Equipment Corporation and depict an example of what Digital
privately owned equipment might look like.
Other displays will show a typical N scale module, various scales of
equipment, kits, literature, and other RR related items.
