404.0. "Cat found at PKO1" by ICS::BEDINI () Thu Nov 05 1992 13:16

Found at PKO1 (Maynard, MA) November 4:

Elderly black cat with white markings, on Weds. November 4.
This cat was soaked to the bone, lying in the PKO1 parking lot,
apparently injured somehow. He wasn't moving and looked very scared.
I snuck him in the building and called my vets in Leominster,
and I brought him right over.

He has one tooth left in his mouth , Dr. Moss thought he was about
13 years old. They kept him for observation and X-rays, he was
bleeding through his nose a little, suspecting internal injuries. I am
accepting all responsibility for the cost (Co-workers also donated $$),
but would really like to find his home if he has one. Today I will
be hanging posters around the Maynard area.

If you have any suggestions or information, please send mail or call me
    at DTN 223-6486.

    Thanks,

    Jenn

    RE: .1

Thanks...When possible I think I'd do just about anything for an
    animal that needed help!

Update: The vet called to tell me that the cat is holding his own...
he made it through the night, but appears to have heart problems,
and a lot of swelling in the abdomen, and, is blind. She's not sure if
the cat is blind due to getting hit, or was always blind. He ate this
morning though and she said that was a positive sign.

I just think of the way this poor cat looked, he was soaking wet,
shivering, covered in dirt, just lying in the parking lot. And looked
so scared - I had no idea the poor thing couldm't see. He never tried
to run away and just seemed relieved to be found...

More and more I'm thinking someone dropped him off in the parking lot
and took off, but I'm praying he belongs to someone in the area.

    Thanks for the encouragement!!

Hes staying in the hospital for a couple of days so they can keep an
eye on him and stabilize him.

    Jenn,

Thank's for the kindness. A suggestion is to hang the posters on the
Old Marlboro Road section that runs into Parker Street.

I'll show you note to some of my neighbors. I live on Parker Street
across from the Credit Union. I have a black cat but fortunately,
it's not the one you found.
