314.0. "Hurricane Bob and aftermath" by MILROT::KALLIS (The hunk with the Hialeah Hurricane Hoodo) Tue Aug 20 1991 14:28

-< As such things go, this one went >-

Everything considered, Hurricane Bob wasn't the nastiest storm. We lost about
25% of our apple tree and some small branches. Our street had no major limbs
down, and the longest power outage was less than a minute.

Main Street lost power for a while.

There seemed to be a run on food (silly in the Summer, when if refrigerators
fail due to power outages, the fopod could spoil), candles, matches, and batteries.

And there was a brisk videotape rental business.

I understand Maynard got 6 inches of rain.

314.1Power is still out, but no major damage...ULTRA::DONAHUEOH! Do you still work here?Tue Aug 20 1991 14:519
We lost our power around the Dartmouth St/Elmwood St area yesterday
at about 10 minutes of 4. As of 10:30 this morning, the power was still
    out.

While coming to work at LTN1, I saw a lot of branches down, but
they had been moved out of the roads by 8:00 this morning.

No major damage, that I've heard of!!

One house on Thompson St suffered major damage when a large maple tree
broke in two and ruined their front porch and part of the front of the
house. On Park St. a tree limb put a whole on the front of a house
directly thru to the living room.

Bob took down the largest tree in our neighbors yard on Harrison
Street. It fell just short of the fence, right over the
swamp in our back yard. A couple of more feet and it would have
    demolished our pool.

My husband had a limb break his windshield on the way home from
work in Lexington when it was struck by lightening.

But all in all it was an exiting day, as no-one was hurt.
