177.0. "On-line Directions to MLO - need soon!" by CURIE::CHIGGINS (Party Girl) Mon Oct 16 1989 13:50

    Can anyone provide me with some directions to the Mill facility?

    I know how to get there myself....but, I need to send out some
    directions to people coming from NH, Boston, and a few other places.

    Does anyone in MLO have any on line directions, or care to type some up
    for me? I would really appreciate it!

    I've tried security, personnel, etc. and have had no luck.

    Thanks very much!
    Carol.

177.1Maynard from the rest of the worldTHOTH::FILZDTN 223-2033Mon Oct 16 1989 18:2324
    From N.H.
    	Take I-93 south or I-95 south (don't no where in N.H. you are
    coming from.) to RT 495 west (south) get off at the RT 2 exit that
    say ACTION, CONCORD (RT2 east) take the 2nd exit off RT2 this is
    RT 27 south ACTION MAYNARD say on RT 27 into Maynard just after the
    Cumberland Farm store you want to take a right go thru the lights
    you will see the Mill facility straigh ahead.

    From Boston
    	The easy is to take RT 93 north to Rt 95 south (Also RT 128 south)
    get off at the RT 2 west exit (Lexinton, Comcord) say on Rt 2 until
    you to come to the RT62 exit (watch for construction) this exit
    is just after the Emsrson Hospital. Take a right on RT 62 west
    say on RT 62 until you reach Maynard go thru the 1st set of light
    in Maynard you will be on RT 27 then take the 2nd right after the
    lights (corner store at corner) go to the bottom of the hill and
    the Mill is right there in front of you.

    Parking could be a problem are these people customer of DEC people
    There are parking lots all around the Mill.

    Good luck.

    Good Morning Everyone,

    I have just read the previous note and noticed just 2 things that
    needed correction.  They are:

    From N.H. coming down 495 the exit sign for Route 2 East reads
    ACTON, Concord (not ACTION, Concord).

    Coming from 128 (A.K.A. 95) and then Route 2 West. You are going
    to take a LEFT onto route 62 in Concord (not a Right!).

    All of the rest of the directions are wonderful!

    Regards,

    Ruth

I really don't agree with sending people all the way up 93 and then
all the way down 128. It's much easier, a straight line, and I've got
to believe faster (especially in rush hour) to take the Mass Pike
West to 128 North to 117 West.

If you do take them 128 South, exit them at 2A West and merge with
2 West at the light with the Mobil station. That at least avoids them
driving further south to the Rte 2 exit, and then back up again on Rt 2.

If you do send them Rt 2 (however they got there), it's easier to
take a Left at the light AFTER the Rte 126 light (this is also marked
117 truck route). Follow that to the first light and take a Right
onto 117 West. This avoids all of the construction near 62, two more
lights on Rte 2, and the drive in from west Concord.

    I agree, I was just giveing the straights and simplest way. I know many
    more way to get to Maynard from N.H. and Boston but I feel the directions
    I give is less confusing.

177.5REGENT::POWERSThu Oct 19 1989 11:372
You can't get onto Rt. 117 directly from Rt. 128.
You have to get off at (say) Rt. 20 and do a U turn in Waltham.
177.6CASPRO::DUNNThu Oct 19 1989 12:1114

re .4 Yes, I figured that is what you were doing. Due to the heavy
morning traffic on 93, 93/128 interchange, and 128 south, though,
the simplicity may be a difficult trade off between the extra time and
traffic aggravation.

re .5 You're right, they don't intersect, but the Rt 20 exit is also
marked for 117. Unfortunately, the markings after that are vague
until you get to the actual left hand turn off of Rt 20.

There are a million ways to do this !!

    Also, there is a file SERENA::DIRECTIONS which might help in the
    future.
