483.0. "Want disk Sweep to be automatic" by CHOWDA::GLICKMAN (writing from Newport,RI) Thu Feb 20 1997 01:00

    Help.

    	My upgraded Sweep (2.94) on startup does the memory Sweep
    automatically but not the disk. I have looked all over Sweep to find
    the parameter to do the disk Sweep as well and haven't be able to
    come up with it yet. Can someone clue me in?

    	Thanks!

    Hullo,

    I run sweep daily from System Agent in Win95 with the command

    "c:\program files\sophos sweep\sweep95.exe" -i -auto

    you may like to try this (or similar) in your 'startup' :')

483.2Swep includes a schedulerVARDAF::BERBIGIERNo known policy forbids common senseThu Feb 20 1997 07:5618
instead of selecting immediate, select scheduled.

If you're running windows-95 then Sweep must be running for scheduled runs to work
(can be minimized in the task bar)
If you're running windows-NT, sweeps runs as a service and it will scan the
disks you've selected even when logged off.

you can configure sweep to mail the scanning report
(Exchange if Windows-95, SMTP if Windows-NT)

ALWAYS SCAN ALL FILES (to detect Word viruses in word documents
embedded within powerpoint or Excel files) default is to
only scan executables

ensure the light is green in front of the disk you want to scan,
and choose a time (default is 12 AM)

483.3No green light ...TROOA::trp147.tro.dec.com::ACHANArthur Chan @TROThu Feb 20 1997 16:179
RE .0

Upon startup, Sweep runs the selected immediate job. If
none of the green-lights are on, then it will only scan
memory.
