269.0. "Digital Unix agent fails" by ALFSS2::OLSEN_G (Real Men Go Wireless!) Thu May 08 1997 15:49

    Hi,

    Has anyone had problems installing the Digital Unix agent? I have a
    customer who tried installing it on a DUnix 4.0b machine and he gets an
    error saying he must be at 3.2d or higher.

    He looked at the script and it gets the version number then does a cut
    and strips everything behind the "." so it appears to never work. He
    tried it on a 3.x machine and it failed there too.

    Chet - maybe I can add this to my list!

    Thanks,

    Gary

I thought for V4.0 you use the standard host mib that is part of
the os, not the serverworks version (which is only for V3.2x)

269.2if all else fails, read the manual!ALFSS2::OLSEN_GReal Men Go Wireless!Mon May 12 1997 15:066
    .1 was correct... It's actually documented, I just didn't see it. On
    pg. 2-22 of the ServerWORKS Manager Administrator-User's Guide, it says
    that any Unix version later than 3.2d uses the agent provided by the OS
    - just make sure it's running.
