236.0. "Version Doesn't Match ServerWORKS" by VMSNET::FARLOW_J () Wed Apr 02 1997 15:19

    I have a customer installing ManageWORKS 2.2 on a Win95 client and
getting the error below when installing the component File System
    Management:

File Version Doesn't Match Version Specified in OMM Configuration
        File 'dosfile.dll': 0.0 expecting 2.0

He has installed serverworks using this cd on 2 other win95 clients
with no problems. He does have ClearVISN installed on the PC with
problems, we tried to remove it and still the same error.

We deleted all the ServerWORKS/ManageWORKS/ClearVISN files off the pc
and looked through the registry removing anything that looked like it
belonged to these three products, but still the same problem.

I read in the ClearVISN Release Notes that ManageWORKS must be installed
prior to ClearVISN. If this is our problem any ideas on what must be
deinstalled (ie registry, etc.) to get ManageWORKS to load properly.

Any help would be appreciated, the customer would not like to reinstall
since win95 came preloaded with lots of software and reloading could be
    painfull.

We spoke with Gary Olsen, he has the answers......

basically, have the customer uninstll clientworks and manageworks
    from the start/settings/control panel/add/remove applications.
Then go into task manager, and remove the manageworks startup files
    from startup.....poller, event viewer etc.
then blow away clientworks directory and the manageworks directory.
reboot the system, and put the CD in and re-install.
