235.0. "SNMP NT Agent MIB variablenames?" by BSS::PROCTOR_R (PC....Politically Corrupt) Wed Apr 02 1997 01:13

    where might a pilgrim wandering in SNMP Forest find a listing of the
    MIB variables that the NT agent tracks [i.e. sp_misc,sp_scsi,sp_snmp?]

    all the 2.2 kit has is the .mib file for sp_snmp. the others are
    apparently a White House Secret..

    thanks in advance.

    As part of the installation of the Server Works 2.2 Client you will get a
    copy of the following MIBs in your MWORKS directory:

    exide.mib              Exides Proprietary UPS Mib
    mlxgam.mib Mylex GAM Raid Controller MIB
    ntcmgmt.mib            Digital's NT Cluster MIB
    raidman1.mib           Digital's RAID Manager
    rfc1514.mib            Host Resources MIB
    stdupsv1.mib           Internet Standard UPS MIB

235.2hmmmm... case of the vaporous .mibsBSS::PROCTOR_RPC....Politically CorruptWed Apr 02 1997 20:128
    well, I must be having a slow day; I pulled the client.zip from jules
    (16.151.112.222), installed it, and saw nada in the way of .mibs.

    does anyone have a pointer online to these things so I can look at 'em?

    thanks..

235.4is there an alternate to Webbing source?BSS::PROCTOR_RPC....Politically CorruptWed Apr 02 1997 21:126
    is there an external or ftp source I can get to? I am on customer site,
    and I have vt220/dialin access.. not WEBbing...

    thanks for the quick response!

235.5Get them from jules PCBUOA::BRACKENWed Apr 02 1997 21:377
    It can be found on \\jules\public under \mibs.
    Sorry, it used to be part of the install thats why I still have them in
    my MWORKS directory. Since the mibs got compiled into the Server Works
    2.2 Data Base for mib-browser use, it was dropped from the kit.
    It will be part of the 3.0 kit again. Thanks for the reminder.

235.6Further info requests...BSS::PROCTOR_RPC....Politically CorruptFri Apr 11 1997 19:2023
    Well, as part of this mad project, it looks like I need to make the NT
    agent "functional", i.e. I need to access the MIB vars discussed in
    this notes thread.

    I am assuming (since the doc isn't real clear on this) that:

    	- I need to compile the MIBs into the NT agent.
    	  or, is this already part of the .dll(s) that are included in the
    	  NT STEAM agent?

    	- These need to be accessed on a Digital Unix host. So, I assume
    	  that the mibs need to be compiled into the Performance Manager
    	  SNMP MIB databse on the Digital Unix host (this being the trap
    	  recipient, as well as the instigator of the MIB variable
    	  interrogations).

    a) are these points correct?
    b) if so, are there detailed instructions for the inclusion of the MIBs
       into the NT agent?

    thanks.

235.7No need to compile MIBsPCBUOA::BRACKENFri Apr 11 1997 21:3710
    The agent installation does all. The MIB is an inherent part of the
    dll.
    At the console side when using Server Works the MIBs mentioned above
    are included in the MIB Browser. If using another management console
    you will have to compile these MIBs in.

    Can someone else please comment on Digital Unix? I have no experience
    with it.

    re: Digital Unix.

    the folks on the PMG (performance manager for D.U.) have been extremely
    helpful, and are standing by even as I write...
