206.0. "ServerWorks integration to SUN NetManager" by EEMELI::KARPPINEN (Do It Ones; Make Hole'in'one) Fri Feb 07 1997 15:06

	Hi !!

Has anyone any experience about ServerWorks integration to Sun NetManager.
Can the Netmanger understand the our MIB's ?
ServerWorks help is only taking about NetView; my the traps can go to the upper level,
but does the NetManager understabd them?

Thank's for any information about integration ServerWorks versus other upper level prducts.

	Thank's juha

A Bit more information to this case.

Our customer cannot compile ServerWorks MIB's with Sun's Netmanager,
(tool called SCHEMA if did understood it right). StorageWorks Console
MIB (SP_SNMP) they did manage to compile with few error message's,
but all the basic ServerWorks MIB's (NTCMGT,SVRSYS,SVRMGT) won't go
thru SUN's filter.

Tell me that this is not the first SUN implementation case, please.

    No - never attempted before.
As a matter of fact, the graphing definitely can't work. However,
the other functionality may be "integratable". For example, launching
the smb from PNV just takes a "registration" file. I'm sure SunNet Mgr
    has q similar mechanism...

BTW- I didn't know they had a windows version. Thought it was just
    Unix...

In this case they don't need integration like Netview *.reg files.

THE THING we need to do now is to get Serverworks private MIB's
compiled to SUNNET MANAGER's (v2.3A) schema format. I did visit onsite and
we tried to compile SRVSYS.MIB and SUN did give an error message
at line 32. Depressing ! Netmanager thinks "}" mark is somewhere
at line 32, i did not find it on that line, but i think it don't
like our vendor MIB definitions at the begining of SRVSYS mib.
I asked client to copy and try DEC_ELAN_VENDOR mib so we can see
what hapens with that. I'll be waiting....

Have you ever looked at Compaq's 145806-5.PDF Integration guide ?
Maybe we could learn something ?
