2893.0. "DECmessageQ QAR system going away" by PAMSRC::MARCUS (BEA/DEC MessageQ Engineering Services Manager (DTN 320-5003, 860) Sat May 31 1997 16:40

As part of the switch over to the BEA network this week, the QAR
database that has resided on PAMSRC will be disabled this weekend.
In general, QARs are used mostly internally to the engineering group,
particularly for reporting problems found during testing of kits before
they are released to either field test or manufacturing. While there
is some limited use of QARs by others (CSCs, NSIS and MCS, other
Digital internal users, etc.) this use seems fairly infrequent.

If you want to report a problem with DECmessageQ to engineering, you
    can use the following channels:

    1) Obviously, if you are reporting a problem from a customer site, the
customer can call the appropriate Customer Support Center to formally
    report an issue.

    2) If you are a member of a CSC, you can use the DMQ_SUPPORT notesfile.
This is a members only notesfile specifically set up to facilitate
communication between CSCs and selected other Field people who have
extensive knowledge about and use of DECmessageQ. Assuming we are
able to keep the notesfile access between Digital and BEA, as we hope
and seems more promising now, this will continue to be an active and
    viable problem reporting mechanism.

If you are not a member of this notesfile but believe it would be
appropriate for you to be a member, please let me know (PAMSRC::MARCUS)
and I will contact you about becoming a member.

    3) As part of BEA's support for DECmessageQ, there is now a PTR
database for DECmessageQ. PTR is a web-accessible problem reporting
database (basically, a QAR replacement). There is both an external
www URL and a Digital intranet address. This system will be used
formally by Digital to report escalations and other problems to BEA.

You need an account to use PTR. If you do not have one, please contact
me and I can arrange for you to get one.

    4) If the nature of the problem is sufficiently critical, you can log
an IPMT case. It is hard to see any problems that would normally be
reported in QAR (a non-critical problem reporting mechanism) that
should then become IPMT cases (critical problems) because QAR is gone.
However, this is the one other formal mechanism to report problems to
    MessageQ Engineering.

Again, if anyone has any questions or concerns about this change, they
can contact me at PAMSRC::MARCUS (this Digital email address will work
for some time; once the network cutover to BEA has occurred and I have
a BEA email address, I will post that here as well) or call me at
DTN 320-5003 (860-258-5003 in Connecticut, USA).
