Here is the announcement I send out last week to SI groups dealing with
external customers with respect to IMS, MSG+ etc... I do not think the
confidential message still applies as the .0 and 5141 notes
announce the BEA deal already. I'm sure the moderators will hide the note then
i'll clean it up if required.
I have added some updates with >>>
hope this helps,

As a valued IMS/MSG+, Request Interpreter and R/3 Businessbus customer we
would like to warn you in advance of a pending announcement that is likely to
cause problems in your dealings with customers if handled incorrectly i.e.
customer finds out before you !!!!
>>>Announcement is now due today I think.
*************************** DIGITAL CONFIDENTIAL *******************************
WARNING:- Please Do Not Distribute This Message. You have my permission to
verbally communicate this message to anyone you think needs to know
before the formal announcement. (as far as we know due Monday) At
that point a more complete Q&A with contacts should be available.
This is our interpretation of the arrangement using the limited
information we have currently available.
********************************************************************************
Early next week you will hear that Digital is partnering with BEA systems
(www homepage at :- http://www.beasys.com/ ) and transitioning it's
DECmessageQ and Objectbroker products.
Here is an explanation of our position regarding the IMS/MSG+, Request
Interpreter and R/3 BusinessBus products.
The agreement with BEA will see them become Digital's partner in middleware.
BEA will be responsible for the engineering of DECmessageQ. Nothing will
change from a customer perspective as BEA has assumed control of the entire
DMQ field infrastructure. Service and support operations will not change.
>>> No BEA just gets the engineering folks
Digital will continue to sell and promote DMQ as a key middleware technology.
Our customers will see significant benefits from DMQ becoming part of a larger
stable of industry leading technologies including BEA Tuxedo. BEA will honour
the current "plan of record" for DMQ future releases and Digital will have
vital input to BEA's development plans.
We see this partnership as a vehicle to provide extra engineering resources
and the technical focus needed to create a viable industry leading middleware
product set for our customers.
IMS/MSG+,RI and R3BB
--------------------
These arrangements (for DMQ) will not affect IMS/MSG+,RI and R3BB. Our ability
and determination to establish IMS/MSG+,RI and R3BB as vital value-added
components in enterprise infrastructures is unchanged.
Digital's NSIS (Systems Integration) organisation has assumed control of
IMS/MSG+, Request Interpreter and R/3 BusinessBus (inner wrappers still
supported and engineered by ERP group) and will deliver these products and
services through its Application Development & Integration and Enterprise
Application practices world-wide. This will add considerably to the number of
trained consultants able to deliver these services in the field.
The NSIS organisation will continue to support, enhance and development new
value-added enterprise services based on a range of industry leading middleware
solutions."

Subj: PAMS kit copied
The following files of the PAMS V2.5 kit have been
copied to you...
0README.TXT (22 blocks)
PAMS025.A (80 blocks)
PAMS025.B (20224 blocks)
PAMS025.C (4928 blocks)
PAMS025.D (32 blocks)
ENJOY!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 years since I started working with PAMS (oops sorry DECmessageQ or should that
be DIGITALmessageQ or now BEAmessageQ), I will not say it has all been easy
there has been a lot of internal and external politics along the way related
to competing middleware products.
However as the mail above finishes it has so far been ENJOYABLE and I look
forward to a future of growth as soon as we get over the poor way the
transition was/is executed.
all the best to those leaving,
Bob McKeating
