1134.0. "Jason vs. Freddy" by ABACUS::FORTIN_C (Worked the Bars and Sideshows) Tue Jul 16 1996 21:24

Any truth to the rumor that there's a movie in the works where
Freddy (nightmare on elm street) battles Jason (Friday the 13th).

Two different people told me a movie was being made and the basis
of the movie was a fight between these two killers.

It makes some sense, I guess, because at the end of Fri. the 13th
Part Million (or whatever the last one was), Jason's mask is
laying in the dirt and Freddy's razor-clawed hand comes up and
        grabs the mask.

Any idea if this is true???

Well, FWIW, I figure Jason would have to be favored in this battle
because he's killed more people, but then again, he's been killed more
    often than Freddy also.

I hear the same rumors also.

New Line Cinema now owns the rights to the Friday the 13th
series(Paramount Pictures were the previous and original owners).
N.L.C. also owns the rights to the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
So, I guess this would be the perferct oppurtunity for the studio to
    match these two killers together.

Insiders say that the makers of the new film are waiting for the script
to be completed. Never know though, it could already be finished.

Note> The previous Jason film," Jason goes to Hell" was the first Friday
the 13th film made by New Line Cinema. The others were Paramount
    Pictures.

I agree. Freddy will kick butt.
But how can a monster that can't die kill a monster that can't die??

I worked at Spooky World for a couple of years, and Kane Hodder (Jason
in the last three movies) *was* hinting about a new Jason movie two
    years ago.

Maybe monsters that can't die can *only* be killed by monsters that can't die ?

I have an idea on that...but it involves time travel.

same way that Superman killed Doomsday finally.
tranport them to the point in time where the universe is destroyed and
there is no time. Why not...the rest of the movie is just as credible!

Maybe Candyman and Mike Myers will challenge them to a tag team match,
with Chuckie refing the bout.

EVERYTHING IN THIS FAQ IS TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO EXTREME CHANGE.

I. Title and Basics

Final Official Title: Freddy vs. Jason
Release Date: 1996
MPAA Rating: R
MPAA Registration No:
Running Time: minutes
Distributor(s): New Line Cinema

II. Cast and Crew

Cast of Characters

Alice From Nightmare 4 & 5 -
Jessica Kimble - Kari Keegan
Steven Freeman - Brain D. LeMay

Main Crew

Written and Directed by - Peter Briggs

III. Plot Summary

It starts off in 17th century Italy and concerns the end of the
universe. Jason and Freddy are pawns in a very large game. It's set
in 1999, starring Alice from Nightmare on Elm Street and Steven and
Jessica from Jason Goes to Hell, and probably their children as well.

IV. Production History

Writing reached a head in 1999.
New Line's buying of Jason and production of Jason Goes to Hell was
all in preparation for this movie.
Freddy effects will all be kept
Large slasher scene in the first 20 minutes that's larger than that
  in part 5 (the largest)
Promises of a big surprise await (lemme guess... Michael Myers?)
New look for both characters
  - darker, more sinister Freddy
  - chrome mask, devilbaby Jason
Briggs wants this to end the characters forever.

V. Cast and Crew Special Biographies

Everything's tentative, so this section must wait.

VI. Adaptation Differences

Nothing yet, but I doubt this will end the horror titans forever.
Some kindof rewrite at the end will allow for them to survive.

VII. Timeline / Mythos Contributions

* Takes place in 1999, 8 years after Dream Child and Jason Goes to
  Hell.

VIII. Coroner's Report

None yet, but promises to be large :).

IMDB has a release date of 1997, not very specific but better than
nothing, I guess. Didn't have time to check out the plot summary,
(actually didn't even notice if they had one)

    Ah well, we shall see..................
