"Cuckoo's Nest"

...but did you read the book.
When I finished the book, I had to pace my room in wonder and awe
and what I had just read.

I still haven't read the book. What'd you think of the movie after
seeing the play and reading the book?

read in High School 1974, Kirk Douglas wanted to play the lead for
years, since the 60's but couldn't get the backing @ that time.
Lucky for Michael who did, it won him 5 Oscars and made him a big
film star and producer! I really wanted to see that play too.

Liked the movie at that time though!

It's an excellent story for a play, with the set being just a hospital room.
The props were simple, and so was the story. The characters, all of them,
were intense in their own way. McMurphy was a ahort, but rugged looking hombre.
The first thing I said after seeing the movie is that the cast should have
been filled by the members of this theater group.

RE: .3 > Kirk Douglas wanted to play the lead for years, since the 60's

Kirk had played McMurphy on stage in the 1960's (I'm tempted to say the
original production, but I'm not positive). That's when he obtained
the movie rights to the property.

As for son Michael being lucky, look at "The China Syndrome"! The
accident at Three Mile Island could not have been considered fortunate
by many in the vicinity, but the timing was perfect for the opening.
Has he ever made any "deal with the devil" films??

> Kirk had played McMurphy on stage in the 1960's

The guy who played McMurphy in the stage version I saw was built like
a young Kirk Douglas. Nicholson's a scream, but - for me - he just didn't fill
the shoes in that part.
