3.1Casablanca Soundtrack?????STAR::BALLISONWed Jul 26 1995 04:3213
Does anyone know if a soundtrack for Casablanca is available???
Specifically I'm looking for a recording of "As Time Goes By".
Hopefully the complete version as opposed to the one verse in the
movie. RCA/Victor did put out a recording that looked like it might
have this, "Classic file scores for Humphrey Bogart", but it doesn't
have a version with the vocals.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated... I need it soon (or I may
be forced to use the version from "Sleepless in Seattle", by Jimmy
    Durante (ugh...).

    RE: "As Time Goes By"

If you can't find the "Casablanca" soundtrack, you might want to find
Harry Nilsson's "A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night" which
contains a perfectly fine rendition. It might also be on one of his
    anthology collections.

RE .1 and .3 - Mandy Patinkin also does "As Time Goes By" on his CD titled
"Mandy Patinkin: Experiment" (which I don't have; just saw this in a blurb
that came yesterday from Book-of-the-Month Club [which also sells some CDs
and videos]).

Does anyone know if their local video store rents the made-for -tv
movies, "The Bastard", "The Rebels" and "The Seekers". Three films
that were loosely based on the John Jakes novels on the Kent family?

you can get multiplay vcr's , which is what I did when I moved to the
UK. Panasonic makes them and they play both NTSC and PAL tapes.

    Help!

I am looking for a copy of "Reefer Madness" to replace a badly worn
copy, and cannot find it anywhere anymore.

Viewfinders (see note 5.1) has tried to get it for me, but their
warehouses have not turned it up - most unusual for a film that is
    supposedly public domain.

Anyone know what the story is? Anyone have a spare copy they'd be
willing to sell me? Has anyone seen this film in stores anywhere in
    New England??

All leads welcome - E-mail me at SCOMAN::PHILLIPS if you find anything!

3.19Need Name of MoviePCBUOA::PRIESTKWed Jan 10 1996 07:5712
My wife is looking for the name of a movie.

All she can remember is a scene in this movie that has a kid who is a
paperboy and and his line is "I want my two dollars". She remembers this
kid follows this guy everywhere and keeps repeating the "two dollar" line
    through out the movie.

I wish I could give more details on this, but that is all she can
remember. Does anyone know what the name of this movie is?

    Thanks,

I don't know the name, but the guy the paperboy was following was
played by a young John Cusack. This was on cable somewhere the other
night and I thought it was "The Sure Thing" at first but it turned out
to be something else. So, alas, I changed the channel...

3.22Looking for the name of a filmFUTURS::BURRELLLive long/prosper-live short/enjoyWed Jan 10 1996 13:1723
I'm interested in finding the name of a film,

It stared Jack Lemon, Terry Thomas and Kim Novak (I think).

Things I remember about the film:

	- Jack Lemon palyed a playboy author of a detective comic strip
	- He (plus Terry Thomas) always played out the scenes for real
	  photographing them
	- There was a Glopater, Glopater machine (!!)
	- And a pill that made you go Whhhuuuuupppp (raise hand palm upways
towards ceiling - pause dramatically) - Splattttttt (turn palm
	  downward and drop hand/arm)
	- And one of the final scenes had an extremely polically-incorrect
courtroom scene where he was accused of murdering his wife and
got the jurors (all men) to push an imaginary button that killed
	  off their own wives.

I'm sure that this must jog somebody elses memory for a title as I
would like to see it again.

	Paul.

3.26Here's a brain teaser!ABACUS::THOMANNI am a leviathan, I am.Tue Feb 06 1996 21:5912
I'm trying to remember the title of a movie from the late 60's to early
70's. It was about 2 children and there parents who moved into an old
house in the English countryside. There was an attic (or barn loft?)
that had an	old witch chained up. A co-worker remembers some details
such as the children hearing noises/screaming from the witches room and
the children bringing food to the witch. I do remember a fire at the end
of the movie. I saw this on TV in that timeframe, but I'm not sure if it
was a movie or made for TV special. I was young then and don't remember
any actors/actresses. Does this ring a bell?? The real question is why
do I still remember this movie? Any takers?

3.27Looking for movie title -Wayne Newton was in itTEXAS1::SOBECKYIt's complicated.Thu Feb 22 1996 16:2928
I just found this conference...I hope this is the correct way to
find the title of a movie.

I'm looking for the title to a *really* stupid movie (it actually
    	was quite funny at times).

Two guys, buddies, work during the day as trash collectors. One
of them wants to be a stand-up comic, so he works at a local club
in the evenings. His buddy plays the accordion.

The would-be stand-up comic's jokes are absolutely terrible. He
rarely even gets a reaction from the audience.

His life begins to change when a bump on the middle of his back (I
don't know how it got there- I missed that part) begins to grow
into an arm. So, he has this arm growing from the middle of his
back. His comedy routine doesn't do any better, tho, because the
crowd says "Oh, sure..the old fake arm growing out of the middle
    	of your back routine".

The actor whose name I remember is Wayne Newton..he played the
role of a small-time talent agent.

Told you it was stupid. Please don't ask why I want the name of it.

    	Thanks

    	John

In case .35 is still interested, a couple of vintage movies may fit
the bill: "The Great Man's Lady" (1942) had Barbara Stanwyck as
    revered pioneer/politician Joel McCrea's 100-year-old widow, whose
reminiscences shed light on the legends. Greer Garson was a similarly
feisty widow who recalls life with gambler-turned-mogul Walter Pidgeon
    in 1944's "Mrs. Parkington".

I am looking for a movie called Three Hundred Spartans, this is an
old movie, perhaps around 1960, 61 timeframe.... I have called Columbia
House to check there, they don't carry it.....

This movie stars Richard Egan.... if anyone out there has or could give
me any pointers to check, it would be much appreciated......

This is a True story, about 300 Spartan (Greeks) soldiers holding off
an attack by the Turks at the Pass at Thermopolhe... spelling is
    bad....

Columbia House only has Seven Cities of Gold for a Richard Egan film..
