870.0. "Stripes" by BUSY::BUSY::SLABOUNTY (Trouble with a capital 'T') Wed Jul 05 1995 15:43

Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, John Candy, John Diehl, Bill Paxton,
Judge Reinhold, Sean Young, John Larroquette [and I'm sure I'm
    	missing a couple].

Bill Murray is a down-on-his-luck cabbie who, instead of killing
himself, joins the Army ... and you can imagine the outcome.

One of the best comedies ever, IMO.

[The reason I posted this was that I saw it last night and didn't
know until then that Sean Young and Judge Reinhold were in this.
Or I did know and I forgot. Bill Paxton basically plays an extra,
so don't expect to see too much of him. He's credited as "soldier"
in a long list of other soldiers.]

Bill's girlfriend was PJ Soles (I think that's her name). Sean Young
    was Harold Ramus' girlfriend.

Yup, that's her name. She was also the star in "Rock 'n Roll High
School" where she had a shower scene with the Ramones ....

I loooooooooove the shower scene in Stripes !

That's the one when Dan Akroyd gets caught ogling the girlies and his
telescope accidentally gets thrown out through a pane of glass when
    Bill Murray ( I think ? ) enters the room. ;-))

That would be a young Dan LaRocquette. He was top notch.

    "Arrrrrrmy training, sir!"

Duh! Of course. Thanks. His most famous character is Dan Fielding on
Night Court. And the mention of Dan Aykroyd...

I don't know the actors name but I'm pretty sure the
    characters name was General Stillwell.

This movie is certainly one of the great ones.
Best scene is when they are intrducing themselves
to each other. Makes me chuckle just thinking about
    it.

I think I just figured out who John Diehl played ... when John
Candy went into his spiel about guys making each other's bunks
depending on which country they're in, I believe John played the
soldier that was supposed to make his bunk.

John Diehl was the soldier Ox took the money from in the poker game.

He's been in lots of movies, usually in small roles. Been a bad guy a
lot, often a cop on the take.

I watched this again yesterday, I had thought it was Gen. Stillwell,
it's not. It's Larroquette's aide introducing Col. Glass who then
explains how the General is looking for a platoon for his EM50 project
in Italy. It's been on HBO for the last month, I think I've watched it
    3 or 4 more times.
