| I believe the characters are much the same.
Every now and then, Entertainment Weekly runs through the current
movies for parents, making recommendations for children's viewing.
Their analysis is that kids will want to watch this movie, but parents
should discourage it -- it's all combat, and extremely violent (it has
to live up to the video game, after all).
As for whether it's any good -- what kind of expectations can you
reasonably entertain about a movie derived from a video game?

Yes, the characters are the same as in the game.
We took my daughter (9) and son (6) to this movie, and had absolutely no
problem with the violence. This is *not* Mortal Kombat, which my wife and
I seriously object to (ie, we have Street Fighter II for PC, but refuse to
even consider purchasing Mortal Kombat or Doom). The violence is similar
to your standard Bruce Lee or Jean-Claude VanDamme movie: lots of high-flying
kicks, little blood or other graphic results of those high-flying kicks.
As a movie it is your standard VanDamme flick, maybe a little less serious
than most. Humor, action, decent dialogue, no motivation or character
development, but who cares. All 4 of us enjoyed it, and plan to see it
again on video.

| Well, I did take my 9 year old son to the movie per his request and he
loved it. The theater was full of 7 to 15 year old boys and the parents
(mostly fathers) that had to get them there. You could tell the movie
appealed to the kids since they would cheer out loud and make comments
during the movie which showed they were really involved.
As already stated, the violence was mostly the kicking/punching variety
where people are knocked out or fall down. There was alot of humor
throughout the movie from good guys and bad as well. The plot was basic
and the acting just ok but for the target audience I'm sure it was just
what they wanted.
If your kidlings are into the action movies then they would probably
like it. Older kids (16 and up?) and the rest of us (ok, so I'm a real
older kid) will enjoy it if we know what to expect or we get caught up
in our own kids enjoyment of the film. I'm pretty lenient when it comes
to movie reviews. If I can be entertained through most of the movie I can
forgive limited scripts or less than great acting. And for a $3 video I
can be even more forgiving.

| Street Fighter was a great movie if you know the game. The characters
were pretty close to the game except for Ryu. His fire ball wasn't very
realalistic. Raul Julia played M. Bison as good as anyone, he was
great. Of course Jean Claude played an awesome role, as usual. Overall
the movie was great. The special moves that the characters do in the
game all were used and done well. Your son will definately like it.
