| Saw the previews when we went to see the yawner Pagemaster. I think it
starts Christmas week, but I may very well be wrong.
FWIW, it looks like Expensive Home Alone w/ friends......

Not with as much clout as MJ's onetime boytoy. I am sick of the little
brat as well, but the rest of world seems to like him. Don't think this is
my kind of flick anyway.

Eh - if it's still the case, it won't last too much longer.

I'm sure it's not mine, but I'm not sure I want to miss a brand new
Chuck Jones (WB) cartoon...
I suppose I could go to the matinee, see the cartoon, and then walk
out... B^)

OK, my wife and I took our niece to a movie of her choice over the
holidays, and her choice was Richie Rich.
And, much to my surprise, it wasn't awful.
Wasn't even bad.
It wasn't -particularly- good, but it was very much worth watching,
which surprised me.
Mike McShane (from Who's Line is it Anyway on the Comedy Channel)
has a great supporting role as the house scientist. I hope he
gets a major role sometime; he's hilarious on WLiiA.
Mac, amazingly, doesn't spend as much time simply mugging for the
camera as the previews would have you believe; in fact, even as the
title character, he doesn't take over the movie.
Most other roles are cardboard thin; the gadgets are really the thing
with this movie.
It's hard to fairly judge the movie, since my expectations were so
low, but a 6/10 seems reasonable.
The cartoon, also a 6/10, was a disappointment. (Imagine political
correctness creeping into the roadrunner.)

| My son (8.5) wanted to see this on New Year's day. I was a bit
reluctant, expecting the worst.
It was actually quite enjoyable and funny, even though totally
unbelievable, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

| Actually, McShane already had a reasonably good-sized role; he was Friar Tuck
in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie.
He's also doing a voice in the upcoming animated "Balto" (due around next
Thanksgiving).

I took my four nieces over the holidays (ages 5-9) and they all
said they enjoyed the movie. At the beginning, they appeared to
be bored, but the movie seemed to pick up steam for them as it
got underway.
Since they are the reason I went to the movie, their opinion
is what determines whether I feel like I wasted my money or
not (of course they are not very discriminating with regard
to taste in movies :^) ).
Personally, though, I was pleasantly surprised, as I had
minimal expectations. I was not constantly looking at my
watch or fidgeting, which I sometimes do a kid's movies...
Overall, I recommend it if you are with a child looking for a
movie...
