676.0. "ONLY YOU" by CAPO::SMITH_MA () Thu Oct 13 1994 19:40

ONLY YOU - A Norman Jewison Film

Starring: Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr. and Bonnie Hunt.

A light romantic comedy, set in beautifully captured footage of Italy.

I was dragged (O.K. 1/2 dragged, I do adore Downey, Jr.) to see this
last night by my baby sister and to my surprise, really enjoyed it.

Marisa Tomei was great, Downey Jr. was funny (and adorable) and Bonnie
    Hunt (as Tomei's bitter/down-on-life sister-in-law) was wonderful!

Almost the entire movie is shot in Italy (Rome and Venice among other
locations) and is filled with gorgeous cinematography; sunsets,
    gondolas, architecture, etc.

The movie is light-hearted, with some (small but genuine) surprises
and, even though I knew it would be a happy-ending movie, I couldn't
wait to see what would happen next.

I won't bother with a plot-line because it's really very simple, and if
you are going to see it, you should just go and enjoy.

    I give it (and I can't believe this because I hate _everything_) 3 1/2
    out of 5 stars.

I saw this last night and really enjoyed it as well. Thought Bonnie Hunt
was terrific and almost stole the movie from Tomei and Downey. I wanted to
jump on a plane to Italy right after seeing the film - the scenery should
get a nod for supporting actor! Has anyone else noticed that in the print
ads for this movie, the male looks NOTHING like Robert Downey Jr?

    my 2c:

The plot was simple and predictable. In my opinion, there were no
outstanding performances (would have been almost impossible with this
script). On the other hand there was no particularly poor acting
either and overall the movie was quite pleasant to watch.

I would like to know in which movie I've recently seen
Joaquim the Almeido (sp ?). In Only You he was Giuseppe, the admirer of
    Faith's girl friend.
I'm recking my brains, but I do not remember the movie.

    Can anyone help ?
    A.

    re.-1

    thanks.
It surely was Clear and Present Danger, as I do not remember him in The
Honorary Consul, which I saw long time ago.
