Saw Mrs.Parker and The Vicious Circle @ b.f.f
with J.J. Leigh- Real good I thought. Dorothy Parkers Life
was exciting, sad & tragic... She could keep up with any man of her
time in all areas of life.

I saw this film the other night and really found it interesting. But
it's also disorienting and hard to follow.

The film was all of these. I'm just not convinced that what
we saw was the real Dorothy Parker.

From the looks of it, she could have drunk F. Scott Fitzgerald under the
table, and still have had enough balance to stagger out to New Haven and take
on half of Yale.

Seriously, "Mrs. Parker" is a rich, technically complex film. Jennifer Jason
Leigh is impressive in a demanding role. She's a genius. But the film treats
biography the way Altman did in "Vincent and Theo" - as a string of real-life
snippets. Life as home-video. Very real, but not very historical. It
doesn't attempt the "Rosebud" question.

The film is dazzling. But its core is unsatisfying.
