561.0. "Beverly Hills Cop III" by DECWET::HAYNES () Fri May 27 1994 19:20

This movie was pretty much shoddy slapstick, almost campy...
I enjoyed Beverly Hills 1 & 2 because it seemed to me a really good
blend of humor and seriousness.... but there was little (except the
beginning) in III that gave me the sense of seriousness that the first
two gave... but even the beginning had some pretty poor parts...
Rosewood is the only repeat character besides our hero...
and he is played so dull it almost seems like a different character.

    Spoiler...

After Inspector Todd get's shot; before he dies, he revives in Axel's
arms, he makes a short statement without any infliction, or any seeming
pain.... as if he were just laying in Foley's arms for the hell of
it.... no emotion at all... and I know probably in real life he could
be considered in shock, but this is acting.. I wanna FEEL what Todd and
Axel feel... and it didn't do it for me. Made the rest of the movie
    seem purposeless...

All in all an OK movie... not what I expected... maybe that's the
problem... I expected the same TYPE of movie... all I got was a
    semi-flashy actor repeat with dressing.

It's pretty bad when the most fun to be had at a movie is playing
"spot the famous director in a cameo" (Look! There's George Lucas! And
isn't that Barbet Schroeder? And Martha Coolidge!). Come to think of
it, Spies Like Us had the same problem...

The only thing I enjoyed about this movie was the fact that my husband
and I had just returned from vacation on the West Coast and a lot of
scenes they used in the movie we had seen in person. Including the
area used for the Alien Attack attraction. We had just been in that
same "room" at the Universal Studios in Hollywood.

I was glad I saw this at the "cheap" theatre. I was also disappointed
how they treated the Billy Rosewood character. Oh, well.

I heard that this movie so far is something like $40 million
	in the *red*.

The replies so far have been lenient in my opinion. I can't believe
I wasted $5 to see that movie. I'd like to be able to say something
constructive, but why bother...that movie blew chunks!! I enjoyed
parts 1 & 2. Part 3 seemed like they pained themselves to fullfil some
contractual obligation. So if you've read this far and haven't got the
message yet, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
